Kota Ambon, Maluku Islands Overview

Kota Ambon is the capital of the Maluku province and was recognised as the UNESCO City of music in 2019. The city consists of a mix of ethnic groups like the Javanese, Balinese, Butonese, Bugis, Makassar, Papuan, Minahasa, Mining, Flobamora and also the Chinese, Arabian-Ambonese, Spanish-Ambonese, German-Ambonese, Portuguese-Ambonese, Dutch-Ambonese. Ambon is mostly a hilly and steep sloping area while some parts can be flat and shallow-sloped. The climate at Ambon is similar to the tropical rainforest climate where there is no proper dry season, the driest month can be said to be November, while June and July are the coolest months.

Ambon Manise was colonized by the Portugal in the 1526 from where it got the name Nossa Senhora De Anunciada, then from the 1609 until Indonesia's Independence in 1945 the island remained under the control of the Dutch. The city offers a treat to all the historical minds out there as it has a lot of cultural sites like the forts built by the Dutch, the Hila fort built by the Portuguese, ANZAC War Cemetery where a commemoration is held every year on the  25th of April.

Teluk Ambon is also known for the Pukul Sapu Dance at Morela and Mamala which is held seven days after Eid al-Fitri, Ambon bay offers a wonderful sunset point in whole of Maluku, besides it also has a number of beaches like Liang Beach, Santai Beach, Pintu Kota Beach, where one can indulge in snorkelling, diving and swimming, and there is the famous Ambon Plaza.
