Kosciuszko Mound, Krakow Overview

An artificial mound with an exterior of a luch green hill and the interior with several exhibitions, Kościuszko Mound is dedicated to Tadeusz Kościuszko, a warrior in the upsrising of 1794. You can climb atop of the mound to get a panoramic view of the beautiful city of Kraków.

It is based on the tradition of the prehistoric mounds of King Krak and Wanda. The mound's interior consists of several exhibitions, the main one being Kościuszko - a Hero for Our Times, in the honor of Tadeusz Kościuszko, and about the Kraków Fortress. It also has full size wax statues of various Polish military men from the 19th century. It features artefacts, quotes and films from the time of the war. The exterior is a lush green hill which is 326 meters above sea level.

Other Important Objective Information :

  • Tour Guides are available from Monday to Friday and only after prior reservation via e-mail. The email ID can be found on the website of the mound.
  • The exhibition area has tramps for wheelchair users, making it easily accessible for them. However, due to the steep nature of the hill, it can be difficult for wheelchair users to go up. They need to climb at their own risk.
