Çatalhöyük is an ancient settlement considered one of the most well-preserved Neolithic sites in the world. The settlement was built on a flat plain and consisted of numerous houses in series and buildings constructed using mud bricks.

The houses were built close together, with no streets or lanes separating them, with entrances through openings in the roofs.
