A beautiful foot shaped lake in the heart of the Patkai range of Nagaland, Shilloi Lake is a very picturesque destination with verdant valley surrounding it from all sides. The lake is considered very important by the folks of Latsum village as it is believed that the spirit of a holy child rests in the bottom of the lake. It is one of the reasons why no one fishes or uses the lake water for drinking and irrigation.
In the beautiful and calm surroundings of the Patkai Range in the easternmost corner of Nagaland is situated a small and exquisite lake known as Shilloi. Shilloi Lake is shaped in the form of a human foot and is about four meters deep.
Air: Nearest air head is at Dimapur which is well connected by flights with Kolkata and Guwahati. Kohima is about 74 km from Dimapur and can be reached by hiring a taxi or catching a state bus for Kohima. From Kohima you can easily get a cab or a bus for Phek district where Shilloi Lake is situated.
Rail: Nearest rail head is at Dimapur which is connected to other major cities of North-East and the country. From Dimapur one can easily hire a cab till Shilloi Lake or take a bus till Kohima and take a connecting bus for Phek district.
Road: Shilloi Lake lies on the Zunheboto-Kiphere road which is a nice stretch into the Naga Hills. Buses ply regularly from Kohima towards Phek district. One can also make the 275 km long journey by hiring a cab in Kohima which is a better option allowing you take in the wonderful scenery.
