As the largest forest area, the Don Phaya Yen Khao Yai area houses around 800 species of fauna, including 20 endangered species. Tiger, leapord, cobra and bear are rare to find, however, you can easily spot gibbons, green vipers, pythons, tree frogs, barking deer, macaques. Wild Asian Elephants can be occasionally spotted, and they're a beautiful sight. There are a few crocodiles that lounge around near the Pha Kluai Mai waterfall. Khao Yai also boasts around 300 different species of birds like hornbills, owls, magpies, bulbuls.
