Metropolitana Cathedral is Gothic Roman styled cathedral and also happens to be the third largest cathedral in Brazil.

Inspired from the Grand Cathedral of Cologne in Germany, the majestic grandeur of this cathedral which took 40 years for its completion attracts foreigners and locals alike who come here for collecting their thoughts in its tranquil complex. The cathedral built in 1949, was designed by a French architect George Mounier in Gothic Roman style and has a seating capacity of 5000 people. The chapel is dedicated to the patron saint of Cearà St. Joseph and there is a small chapel dedicated to Our Lady of Assumption. The stained glasses and the crypt bought all the way from Verona are its striking features.
