Bhadkeshwar Mahadev Mandir, Dwarka Overview

Bhadkeshwar Mahadev Mandir, dedicated to Lord Shiva, is an ancient temple, some 5000 years old, which was built around a self-manifested Shivaling found in the Arabian Sea.

The temple gets submerged in the sea every year during monsoons, which devotees believe to be nature's way of performing the religious process of Abhishekam. For the rest of the year, the temple is visited often for its divine vibe and the scenic beauty of the attraction.

Significance of the Bhadkeshwar Mahadev Temple

Home to over 1300 Shiva Lingams, 75 metal relics of Shankaracharya and 1200 Salgramsheelas, the Bhadkeshwar Mahadev Temple is a revered and ancient hilltop Shaiva temple. It is dedicated to Chandra-Moulishwar Shiva.

Located amid the sea, this temple houses a Shivalingam within its sanctum santorum. Although the temple hosts a stairway to reach the top, these stairs tend to submerge during high tides.

The Bhadkeshwar Mahadev Temple hosts a vibrant celebration during Mahashivratri, thus attracting dozens of devotees. It is also a great spot to view the Dwarka coastline.
