Lago do Paranoà

Lago do Paranoà, Brasilia Overview

Lago do Paranoà is an artificial lake created by damming Paranoà river.

Though planned in the 19th century, the lake became a reality in 1950s. Along its shore are embassies, consulates, sports clubs, University of Brasilia and the Palàcio da Alvorada, official residence of the President of Brazil. The key highlight here is a concrete and steel bridge known as Ponte JK which is supported by three crisscrossing arches rising sixty metres above water. The views at this lake are fabulous specially at night when floodlights emphasize the arches of the bridge. The place is perfect to enjoy sunsets and for relaxing.
