Santuario Dom Bosco

Santuario Dom Bosco, Brasilia Overview

One of the highlights of Brasilia, the square shaped church is dedicated to patron saint of the city Dom Bosco.

Dom Bosco was an Italian saint who prophesized about an utopian city near 15th parallel in 19th century. The city is none other than Brasilia and when it was planned, there had to be a monument dedicated to its patron saint. The impressive square church designed by Carlos Naves boasts of forty splendid arches framing tall windows of stained glass on each side. The windows with their blue shades create an impression of starry sky and make most of the structure. The enormous central chandelier made up of 7400 pieces of Murano glass is an attraction in itself.
