Gopalpur beach is just 16 km from the city and used to be a busy sea port. The crumbling walls, pillars of jetty, fisherman's cove and an old light house come together to create a spectacular landscape.
There is a lot of hustle-bustle around this beach specially during the Gopalpur festival. The beach faces east wards and gives the best view of the sun rising up the sky line beyond the origin of the waves, making them glitter. But, if you are looking for an isolated spot, then just few kilometers away is the Dhabaleshwar beach which is mainly famous for the Dhabaleshwar temple near it, dedicated to Lord Shiva.
