Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 Arrival in Madurai
  • Arrive at the airport.
  • On arrival at Madurai, check in to the hotel.
  • Later, proceed sightseeing.
  • Visit Meenakshi Amman Temple, Thirumalai Nayak Palace, Thirupparankundram, and Gandhi Museum.
  • Overnight stay at Madurai.
  • After breakfast, proceed to Rameshwaram.
  • On arrival at Rameswaram, check in to the hotel.
  • Later, proceed sightseeing.
  • Visit Ramanathaswamy Temple, Agnitheertham, Dhanushkodi (jeep cost extra), Former President Shri. Dr. Abdul Kalam’s House, and Pamban Bridge.
  • Overnight stay at Rameshwaram.
  • After breakfast, proceed to Kanyakumari.
  • On arrival in Kanyakumari, check in at the hotel.
  • Later, proceed sightseeing.
  • Visit Padmanabhapuram Palace, Thiruvalluvar Statue, Vivekananda Rock Memorial, Bhagavathy Amman Temple, Gandhi Memorial, Bharat Mata Temple, Kanyakumari Beach, and Sunset View Point.
  • Overnight stay at Kanyakumari.
  • After breakfast, proceed to Kovalam.
  • On arrival in Kovalam, check in to the hotel.
  • In the evening, relax at the Kovalam beach.
  • Overnight stay at Kovalam.
  • After breakfast, proceed to Thiruvananthapuram.
  • Visit the Secretariat, Museum, Mini Zoo, and the famous Padmanabhaswamy Temple (optional).
  • After lunch, head back to Kovalam.
  • In the evening, visit the crescent-shaped beaches of Kovalam, i.e. Samudra Beach, Hawa Beach & Lighthouse Beach.
  • Overnight stay at Kovalam.
  • After breakfast, check out from the hotel and transfer to Alleppey.
  • Around 1200 hrs, check in at the houseboat and start your cruise through the rich and splendid backwater.
  • Relax at the houseboat.
  • Cruise along the village sides and paddy fields, witnessing the Kerala villages' core life for the whole day.
  • Overnight stay at the houseboat.
  • In the morning, after breakfast check out from the hotel.
  • Drive to Thekkady. Thekkady is a world-famous wildlife sanctuary and it is also called Periyar.
  • On arrival, check in to the hotel.
  • In the afternoon, proceed for a game viewing cruise on Periyar Lake. Here you will be able to see a large variety of wildlife, which include elephants, monkeys, deer, wild boar, etc.
  • Spend the rest of the day at leisure.
  • Overnight stay at Thekkady.
  • After breakfast, leave for Munnar
  • On arrival at Munnar check in at the hotel.
  • In the afternoon visit Rajamalai (Eravikulam National Park - open as per the directions by the forest authorities) & Tea Museum.
  • In the evening a short visit to Munnar town. You can see the beautiful tea estates like a green paradise.
  • Overnight stay at Munnar.
  • After breakfast proceed for sightseeing.
  • Visit Mattuppetty dam, Echo Point, Kundala Dam, Pothamedu Viewpoint, Blossom Park, etc.
  • Time for shopping.

We had lots of requests/changes while creating the itinerary, Parul was very patient in listening and worki (Read More)ng on each one of them. We were initially skeptical of making on-line payments to a travel agent we had never seen or heard before. However JourneyCook was thoroughly professional and each payment was acknowledged promptly.
