Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 Arrival in Paro and Transfer to Thimphu
  • Arrive at Paro Airport and transfer to Bhutan's capital, Thimphu, which is about an hour and a half away. It is one of the most scenic drives in Bhutan.
  • Spend the day at leisure and go exploring around the valley.
  • Overnight stay at hotel.
  • After breakfast, go for Thimphu sightseeing.
  • Visit the Memorial Chorten, also known as Thimphu Chorten/ Memorial Stupa, one of Thimphu's tallest monuments. It was built in honor of Jigme Dorji Wangchuck, the third king of Bhutan and the father of modern Bhutan. The architecture of this place is marvelous and is a highlight of the town.
  • Next, visit the 15th-century Changangkha monastery, an ancient temple situated around 1 km from downtown Thimpu. The temple was built in the 12th Century on a site chosen by Phajo Drukgom Shigpo, the founder of the Drukpa Lineage in Bhutan. It has large prayer wheels, incredibly huge Tibetan texts, and very fine interior murals.
  • Your next stop would be Tashicho Dzong, an ancient fortress currently serving as a monastery and the central secretariat of the present government. Originally built in 1216, the original structure was destroyed in a fire, and the current structure was newly built. The Throne Room and several officers of the monarchy are situated within the Tashichho Dzong.
  • Our last stop for the day would be Buddha Dordenma, a 51-meter-tall gold-plated statue of Buddha, entirely made of steel. The night sees this statue beautifully illuminated and makes it even better sight to behold. The statue houses around 125,000 spectacular smaller Buddha statues made of bronze and plated in gold, each of which looks like the Dordenma itself.
  • After the tour, transfer back to the hotel and rest.
  • Overnight stay at Hotel.
  • After breakfast, drive to Paro.
  • Later, go sightseeing and visit the Drugyel Dzong. Now in ruins, Drukgyel Dzong is a fortress built in 1649 to mark the victory of Bhutan over Tibet. On climbing to the top of the ruins, a fantastic view of the valley greets you, making it worth the effort.
  • Next, visit the National Museum of Bhutan. This museum showcases art and traditions and has six floors, each narrating a unique tale from the past. You can see paintings, art pieces, animal masks, and many more facets of the rich culture. Perched above Paro Dzong, it houses all the important artifacts and belongings from the past.
  • Our last stop is Rinpung Dzong. Beautifully lit at night, the dzong has many illustrations portraying the life of Buddha. A hike to the top of the fortress offers a spectacular view of nearby valleys.
  • After the tour, transfer back to the hotels and rest.
  • Overnight stay at Hotel.
  • After breakfast, go for a day hike to the viewpoint of Taktsang Monastery, famously known as Tiger's Nest Monastery. Tiger's nest is known for the trek that has been carried on for years. With a total distance of 6.4 kms, the trek offers mesmerizing views of the Paro Valley. The mystery of how it was constructed in such conditions still amazes people. It is one of the few sites in Bhutan which was visited by Guru Rinpoche, who is also referred to as 'Second Buddha'.
  • When in Paro, take a moment to stop and shop for souvenirs from the local stores.
  • At the end of the day, reward yourself with a trip to the neighboring brewery for locally-produced beer before retiring to your hotel for the day.
  • Overnight stay at hotel.
  • Spend the last morning exploring Paro at leisure.
  • After breakfast, transfer to the airport for the onward journey.

What's Not Good: The quality of stays (specially for return journey stops) should have been better. The stays were either too far from cities (additional travel time) or were not maintained at all - leading to unsatisfactory experience. Vikas's Trip to Spiti, Kaza, Sangla

5 /5

(Written on 14 Feb, 2025)

What's Good: Himachal ≅ Peace ≅ Kinner Kailash Tours Travels India Pvt. Ltd. When you think of Himachal Pradesh, images of snow-capped mountains, lush valleys, winding roads, and rivers flow (Read More)ing through picturesque landscapes instantly come to mind. However, to truly experience its magic, you need a reliable tour agency and a knowledgeable local guide who can provide authentic insights into the region. Mr. Vijay Negi, through Kinner Kailash Tour and Travels India Pvt. Ltd., along with our rider and guide, Mr. Shubham Thakur, are the ones who truly made this experience unforgettable. Our trip was Delhi - Shimla - Narkanda - Sarahan - Sangla - Chitkul - Sarahan - Delhi. As a traveler, it's important to be clear about your objectives and requirements. Once you have that in mind, Mr. Vijay Ji will take care of everything throughout your trip. From the very beginning, he assisted us in planning our itinerary (especially with our time constraints), coordinated with various stakeholders, and managed all the logistics at different stages of our journey. He is truly a gem of a person—humble, kind, and dedicated to making your experience seamless. Our stays at the different hotels were well-organized and hassle-free. We simply walked into our accommodations in the evening and relaxed. Each property offered both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food options, along with well-managed services like morning and evening snacks, tea/coffee, hot water, and bonfires. Given the environmental constraints and working habits of localities, please ensure that any specific requests—such as a bonfire or food preferences—are communicated to Mr. Vijay Ji earlier in the day. Last-minute requests are difficult to accommodate, especially in remote locations. As travelers, we also have certain responsibilities, such as clearly communicating our needs, understanding the changing environment, and adapting accordingly. The comfort of city life can’t be replicated in the mountains for obvious reasons. However, by using our common sense and emotions, it’s certain that a trip to Kinner Kailash will make your time in Himachal truly memorable for a lifetime. Mr. Shubham Thakur not only guided us to various places but also helped us understand their significance, local customs, modern practices, and the behaviors of both locals and tourists. He also shared insights into the local economy. Additionally, he encouraged us to try the local food and sweet dishes, which were absolutely delicious. He introduced us to exciting activities such as zip-lining, snow walks, snow slides, and short treks. When we made last-minute changes to our plan, Shubham Ji was more than happy to accommodate them. What an absolutely breathtaking and mesmerizing experience it turned out to be! Of course, like any experience, there are areas where improvements can be made. These include refining the preparation of sweet dishes, ensuring an adequate supply of hot water, maintaining in-room temperatures to prevent freezing floors, and providing extra water jars in the rooms. Special Thanks : Sanju, The maggi person at Narkanda, Gattu, Caretaker at Sangla property & the cute kid with running nose at Sangla. To conclude, I’d like to share two lines that reflect what we discovered and understood with Mr. Shubham Ji: 1) Aashiq bante hai Ishq se, Driver bante hai Risk se....!! 2) Haste Raho, Swast Raho, Masst Raho....!!
