Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 Arrival in Arusha - Leisure Day
  • Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport, you will be transferred to Mc-Elly's Hotel in Arusha.
  • At the hotel, a pre-climbing briefing will be conducted by the tour consultant, providing details on the trek itinerary and necessary preparations.
  • Guests will have the chance to ask questions and seek clarifications.
  • Overnight accommodation will be provided at Mc-Elly's Hotel.
  • Depart from Arusha and head to Marangu Gate, where the trek begins.
  • Begin the ascent through a beautiful tropical rainforest, with chances to spot blue monkeys.
  • Trek approximately 8km, taking 4-5 hours to reach Mandara Hut.
  • Enjoy breakfast and lunch along the trail.
  • Dinner will be provided at Mandara Hut, where you will spend the night amidst the rainforest habitat.Top of Form
  • Start the day with breakfast at Mandara Hut before continuing the trek.
  • Trek through the forest until the trail opens into high moorland.
  • Look out for the first views of Kibo and Mawenzi peaks, two of Kilimanjaro's volcanic peaks.
  • Cover a distance of approximately 12km over 6-8 hours.
  • Meals provided include breakfast, lunch, and dinner at Horombo Hut, situated in the heath habitat where you will spend the night.
  • Start your day with a delicious breakfast at Horombo Hut, surrounded by breathtaking views.
  • Today, you can choose to stay an extra day at Horombo Hut for acclimatization and to explore the surroundings.
  • This extra day is strongly advised, especially since the Marangu Route has a lower success rate.
  • Use this time to get used to the altitude, which improves your chances of reaching Uhuru Peak.
  • Meals, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner, will be provided at Horombo Hut, where you'll spend the night.
  • After breakfast at Horombo Hut, embark on the next leg of your journey towards Kibo Hut.
  • The trail takes you through the alpine desert, gradually gaining altitude.
  • Enjoy the unique scenery of the lunar-like landscape as you cross the "Saddle" between Mawenzi and Kibo.
  • Arrive at Kibo Hut, nestled at the base of the Kibo Crater wall, where you'll rest and have an early dinner to prepare for the summit push.
  • Meals, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner, will be provided at Kibo Hut, where you'll spend the night.
  • Start the climb to Uhuru Peak from Kibo Hut around midnight.
