Great location, right next to the main street. Nice little pool in the hotel (and gym). Super friendly staff. Clean and comfortable beds, nice rooms. Easy to find.

Centrally located; friendly staff

Conveniently and centrally located: Just 8 minutes walk to the SkyCity Terminal (for both SkyDrive express bus to AKL airport and also Intercity buses). This was one of the main reasons I chose CityLife. Also many good restaurants and shopping literally at the door steps; walking distance to most CBD attractions such as Ferry Building and Art Gallery. Room is a good size with good amenities, I especially love the toiletries (including some items that many other 4-star hotels don't provide, such as vanity kit) and the goodie bag with instructions to bring leftover toiletries home (good idea to reduce waste). Plenty of counter space in the bathroom. Appreciated the option for early check-in (room was ready) even though I arrived 2+ hours before official check-in time. Staff were friendly. Good selection of tea, coffee and chocolate.

The street where the main entrance is (Durham St W) felt slightly sketchy to me with the multi-story parking lot across and all the constructions that are going on half a block away. I'm sure most other travelers don't think this is an issue but as a solo female traveler, I don't feel 100% comfortable walking on that street after dark. I much prefer the other entrance on Queen Street, but that is locked after hours. My room on the 4th floor also faced the back of the other building (I think it may be the multi-story parking but not sure) where I can see construction workers sometimes, which means no privacy unless I keep my curtains shut most of the time. While the location of the hotel and lack of privacy of lower-level rooms do not have easy fixes, there are a few details that the hotel could probably improve on at a relatively low cost: 1/ There is no place to put toiletries in the shower, so I had to put them on the floor which isn't very convenient. 2/ No dish/ container for the bar soap (and the shape of the sink has no ledge for the soap either), leaving me with no choice but to put the wet soap directly on the bathroom counter. 3/ The gap is super apparent between the 2 twin beds pushed together to form a king bed, i.e. it won't be comfortable to sleep in the middle of the king bed. While I know that many hotels do that (push together 2 twins to make a king), a better/ thicker king-size mattress topper should minimize this issue.
