Detailed Itinerary
Day 1 Into Kaziranga
Into Kaziranga
- Arrive at Guwahati Airport and meet the DSCOVR team before beginning the scenic drive towards Kaziranga. The journey takes you from the urban landscape of Guwahati towards the greener and more rural landscapes of Assam.
- Stop en route for a traditional Assamese lunch and continue towards Kaziranga.
- On arrival, check in to your wildlife resort and take some time to settle in and relax.
- Later, visit Kaziranga Orchid & Biodiversity Park, an opportunity to experience Assam beyond its wildlife. Explore the park's rich collection of orchids and other flora, discover local crafts and experience Assamese cultural performances, subject to the day's schedule.
- As the day winds down, join a DSCOVR Conservation Storytelling Session: Understanding Kaziranga. Rather than beginning with a checklist of animals, this session introduces the larger ecological story of the landscape, including the Greater One-Horned Rhinoceros, its habitat and the role of seasonal flooding in shaping Kaziranga's ecosystem.
- End your first day with a traditional Assamese dinner.
- Overnight in Kaziranga
Meals Included: Dinner.
Day 2 Three Landscapes, One Ecosystem
- Begin the day with an early morning jeep safari through the Central Range at Kohora. As the park comes alive, explore its grasslands, forests and open landscapes while looking for the wildlife that calls Kaziranga home.
- Return to the resort for breakfast and some time to relax. You can either enjoy a slower morning at the property or join a nature walk around the resort with a naturalist, observing the smaller details of the surrounding landscape.
- After lunch, head out for your second safari, this time through the Western Range at Bagori. This landscape offers opportunities to observe Greater One-Horned Rhinoceros and Asian Elephants, along with the other wildlife and birdlife that inhabit the range.
- Return to the resort after the safari and unwind before dinner.
- The day concludes with a Wildlife Photography Review and Animal Behaviour Discussion. Look back at the day's photographs and observations while discussing animal behaviour, field observation and how to read what wildlife is doing rather than simply identifying what you have seen.
- Overnight in Kaziranga
Meals Included: Breakfast and dinner.
Day 3 Wetlands, Birds & Departure
- Set out for your final jeep safari in the Eastern Range at Agaratoli, exploring a landscape particularly associated with wetlands and birdlife.
- This final safari provides a different perspective of Kaziranga and allows you to experience another habitat within the larger ecosystem. With binoculars and cameras at hand, spend time observing the park's birds, water bodies and surrounding landscape while remaining attentive to the possibility of larger wildlife encounters.
- Important: Wildlife sightings are never guaranteed. Safari routes, range access and operating conditions are subject to park regulations, availability, weather and other local conditions.
- Return to the resort for breakfast and check-out before beginning the drive back towards Guwahati.
- Stop for lunch en route before continuing towards Guwahati Airport for your onward journey.
Meals Included: Breakfast.
