Reaching Denmark by Air

There are two major airports in Denmark, along with a lot of minor airports that connect the country to all other important destinations. The major carrier is the SAS Scandinavian Airlines, followed by Norwegian, Transavia, Easyjet and Ryanair. Copenhagen Airport is the largest airport in the country and is well connected to all Scandinavian and European countries. Billund Airport is the second largest one in Denmark. Other airports include Aalborg Airport, Aarhus Airport and Malmo Sturup Airport.

Reaching Denmark by Bus

There are good bus connections between Denmark and its neighbouring countries and it is generally a cheaper option than trains. A lot of bus companies operate bus services from Hamburg and Berlin to Aarhus and Copenhagen which costs around 200 DKK. There are daily connections between Gothenburg and Oslo to Denmark as well as two daily bus services from Stockholm.

Reaching Denmark by Rail

One of the most convenient options to travel to Denmark is by train. There are five direct trains that connect Hamburg to Copenhagen and a few of these trains extend to Berlin. There are also two trains between Aarhus and Hamburg. People coming from farther places in Europe, have the option of a night train from Amsterdam, Basel, Berlin and Prague that stops at Padborg, Kolding, Odense and Copenhagen. There are also direct trains from Stockholm and Gothenburg to Copenhagen.

Reaching Denmark by Road

Driving down to Denmark from neighbouring countries is also a good option. Route E45 that passes close to Hamburg runs along the Jutland peninsula, creating a good route between Germany and Denmark. There are also ride sharing websites which have frequent cabs available to Denmark. From Sweden, one can take route E4 from Stockholm or E20 from Gothenburg to Denmark.

Reaching Denmark by Water

There are frequent ferry connections between Denmark and Norway with Hirtshals being the busiest port. It takes three hours and a half to reach Norway from there. Other major routes are Rodby-Puttgarden, which is also the fastest route between Copenhagen and Sweden to continental Europe. Denmark also has ferry routes between Scandinavia and UK. The ferries in Denmark are of high standards and the major operators are Bornholmstrafikken, Color Line, DFDS Seaways, Fjordline, HH-Ferries, Polferries, Scandlines and Stena Line.
