What's Good: Co oordinator Ruchi puts in her best to keep up the Schedule.
What's Not Good: 1. No time sense and good for nothing guide. Our guide Saritha doesn't even know the spell (Read More)ing of Bhutan, forget about the history of Bhutan.
2. Arrogant drivers who turn up after 9.30 am and retire by 5 pm. Do not stop the vehicle to take pictures.
3. When vehicle is not at our disposal, hotel rooms should be booked near shopping areas. Not away from civilization.
4. On our last day of the trip, we gave a complaint as follows
" Hi Ruchi,
I would like to bring to your notice the summary of the bitter experiences faced by us with the Bhutan side drivers and Guide.
Last night's behavior by the van driver at 9.30 pm calling us to the reception is the testimony of what they are.
We resisted ourselves not to call the police. One of us is an American citizen . A mail to American consulate would have sorted out everything.
She is registered with S.T.E.P.
1. Guide Sarita - has no knowledge of Bhutan doesn't even know the spelling of Bhutan. Absolutely pathetic at time management. Took us to places and sat outside. On 11th she booked a hot stone bath for 8 people without taking consent from all of us. We were informed at 2 pm. Immediately Ms.Revathi asked her to cancel for three. Two others also followed us. So, effectively 3 baths were confirmed. She did not cancel these 5. At 6.30 pm when we were returning to the hotel, driver King, took a detour from main road and when one of us asked " where are you taking us?" He said " The girl is in trouble at the stone bath center." When we reached there we were rounded up by 6/7 men. Sarita came out along with the stone bath owner. The owner informed us that we had to pay ₹4000/- as cancellation charges. He said that till 4pm we had the provision to cancel. When we informed Sarita at 2 pm itself, why didn't she cancel? She was silent throughout the conversation. The owner of the steam bath started bargaining " you pay ₹2000/- , she pays ₹1000/- and I bear ₹1000/-. We asked him " who made the booking with you? Take the money from that person." The owner Immediately went inside. We asked the driver to take us back to our hotel. He was still chatting with them. We literally had to shout at him to move the van.
We thought she would behave professionally from the second day. She didn't. If you ask us to narrate everything it would take pages.
2. The van driver King was rude from the start. He wouldn't stop at places where we needed to take pictures. Other than eateries, coffee shops and at the rented costume shop(where he was bubbly, cheerful and cooperative- probably because he would have had his share.) Regarding this i called you on 9th evening. He instructed our Creta driver to follow him strictly. I was in the front seat. That's why I could check the speed he drove at. Even the lorries drove past us . When we asked, they said that you instructed them not to cross 20kmph. That's why it took a long time to reach places and we couldn't see anything in detail - other than Himalayan ranges. Our Creta driver knows nothing, but he is a soft guy.
Whether we got the best of the lot or the entire lot is such ---- I wonder!
I reiterate - don't give me and my team a chance to send an email to the American consulate regarding our safety.
Thanks & Regards.

5. What is the protocol an American passport holder has to follow, they have no clue.
6. Drivers and Guide do not suggest any sightseeing places we miss.
7. It is better we book our hotel bookings and hire a vehicle from reputed car rentals. For 6 of us ( all are in the age group of 62-75) she provided an Innova, which was pathetic. From airport to Kalimpong and back Rs 18,500. We didn't even bargain. Instead she could have provided 2 mid size vehicles.
Overall it was not so happy experience for us irrespective of the efforts put in by Ruchi.
9-5 work rule, go slow at 20-25kmph, show less number of places . ...
2. Arrogant and
