Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 Arrival in Arusha

Arrive at Kilimanjaro or Arusha Airport, where a representative from Maramatta Safaris will meet you.
Transfer to your accommodation in Arusha for an overnight stay.
Rest and prepare for the upcoming safari adventure.

Day 2 Arusha to Tarangire National Park

Enjoy an early breakfast at 8:00 AM, followed by a short safari briefing.
Depart for Tarangire National Park, famous for its ancient baobab trees and seasonal marshes.
Explore the park, home to the largest elephant population in northern Tanzania, as well as giraffes, buffaloes, lions, zebras, and various antelope species.
Savor a hot lunch at a scenic picnic site inside the park.
Continue game viewing in the afternoon, witnessing the park’s diverse wildlife and landscapes.
Travel to Karatu in the evening for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3 Karatu to Ndutu Region

Start the day with an 8:00 AM pickup from your hotel in Karatu, heading toward the Ndutu region.
Pass through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, where the landscape transitions from hilly forests to open grasslands.
Arrive in Ndutu and embark on a half-day game drive, with a picnic lunch stop.
Experience the Great Migration, where over 2 million wildebeests, zebras, antelopes, and gazelles travel across the region.
From December to April, witness calving season, attracting numerous predators.
After an eventful game drive, transfer to your accommodation for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4 Full Day Game Drive in Ndutu

Have a relaxed breakfast before setting out on a full-day game drive.
Follow the migration patterns, observing massive herds and predator activity.
Enjoy a packed lunch amidst the breathtaking scenery of the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
From December to March, witness the calving season, as thousands of newborns take their first steps.
Conclude the game drive around 5:00 PM and return to your accommodation for dinner and rest.

Day 5 Ndutu to Ngorongoro Crater

Depart early for the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, stopping at a scenic viewpoint overlooking the vast Ngorongoro Crater.
Descend 600 meters into the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera, covering 265 square kilometers.
Encounter an abundance of wildlife, including around 30,000 mammals living within the crater.
Spot the legendary "Big Five" (elephant, black rhinoceros, buffalo, lion, and possibly leopard).
Enjoy a picnic lunch in the crater while surrounded by breathtaking scenery.
Continue game viewing until late afternoon before ascending and heading to Karatu for an overnight stay.

Day 6 Lake Manyara National Park to Arusha

Begin the day with an early breakfast before driving to Lake Manyara National Park.
Discover the park’s rich biodiversity, home to tree-climbing lions and over 500 bird species.
First-time visitors can expect to spot around 100 bird species in a single day.
Explore acacia woodlands, where elephants, giraffes, zebras, hyenas, buffaloes, hippos, and wildebeests roam freely.
Enjoy a picnic lunch inside the park before continuing the safari.
Return to Arusha in the afternoon, with options to catch a flight to Zanzibar from either Arusha Airport or Kilimanjaro International Airport.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations made more than 60 days before the safari start date: The deposit will not be refunded, but no further payments are required.
Cancellations made between 30 and 60 days before the safari start date: 50% of the total safari cost will be charged.
Cancellations made less than 30 days before the safari start date: 100% of the total safari cost will be charged.
In rare cases where Maramatta Safaris needs to cancel or significantly modify a booking due to unforeseen reasons (e.g., extreme weather, safety concerns), alternative arrangements of equivalent value will be offered. If these are not acceptable, a full refund of any payments made will be provided.

Tarangire was stunning—so many elephants everywhere! There was one moment where we got really close to a family of elephants as they walked right past our vehicle. It was thrilling, but I always felt safe with our guide, who was a total pro. Ngorongoro Crater, though, took my breath away. The scenery alone was jaw-dropping, and I spotted the elusive black rhino, which I’d been hoping for!
