- Situated at 1,600 meters above sea level, Munnar offers an unending expanse of tea plantations, pristine valleys, and mountains.
- You will often find yourself above the clouds, watching veils of mist clinging to the mountaintops.
- Among the exotic flora in the forests and grasslands is the Neelakurinji (Strobilanthes), a flower that blooms once every twelve years and blankets the hills in blue.
- On your way to Munnar, visit the Cheeyappara and Valara waterfalls.
- The Cheeyappara Waterfall cascades down in seven steps, while Valara features a chain of waterfalls surrounded by thick green forests.

- Start by visiting Sri Padmanabhaswamy Temple, the city's most religious icon, built by the Travancore Royal family and over 260 years old. The deity, Padmanabha, reclines on the sacred serpent Anantha and is made from over 10,000 salagramam (sacred stones) brought from Nepal by elephants.
- Next, visit Puthe Maliga Palace Museum (ticket price extra), a 200-year-old palace featuring carved wooden ceilings, marble sculptures, and imported Belgian glass. The museum showcases Kathakali images, an armory, portraits of maharajas, ornate thrones, and other artifacts.
- Later, visit Veli Tourist Village, a popular picnic spot known for its peaceful serenity, where the lake meets the Arabian Sea. The main attractions are the floating bridge and the floating restaurant, which serves a variety of delicious dishes.
