Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 Pick up from Leh Airport and Relax
  • Arrival at Leh Kushok Bakula Airport. This is considered one of the most sensational flights in the world.
  • On a clear day, from one side of the aircraft, you can see the distant peaks of K2, Nanga Parbat, and Gasherbrum.
  • On the other side of the aircraft, the Nun Kun massif is so close that you feel you could reach out and touch it.
  • Upon arrival, you will be met by a representative and transferred to the hotel for check-in.
  • Enjoy half a day for rest and leisure to acclimatize at the hotel.
  • After breakfast, drive downstream along the River Indus on the Leh - Kargil Highway.
  • Enjoy the following monuments:
    • Hall of Fame
    • Spituk Monastery
    • Gurudwara Pathar Sahib
    • Magnetic Hills
    • Confluence (Sangam) of Zanskar and Indus/Sindhu rivers
  • Later, return to Leh.
  • The driver will take approximately 5-6 hours to visit all the sights mentioned above.
  • Post breakfast, we drive to Nubra Valley.
  • The road journey from Leh to Nubra Valley passes over Khardung La, the highest motorable road in the world, at 5,602 meters (18,390 feet), approximately 39 km from Leh.
  • En route, visit Diskit Monastery.
  • Upon arrival in Hunder, you have the opportunity to ride on a Bactrian camel (double-humped) amidst the sand dunes of this high-altitude desert, with snow-capped mountains on the horizon.
  • Between Hunder and Diskit, you will come across sand dunes beside the road.
  • In isolation, you could easily be among the sand dunes of the Thar Desert in Rajasthan.
  • Overnight stay at Nubra Valley.
  • After an early breakfast, we check out from the camp or hotel and drive towards Pangong Tso via Agham and Shyok Valley.
  • Some sections of the road are extremely challenging (towards Nubra), but the landscapes are breathtaking.
  • After crossing this adventurous part, we continue towards Durbuk and Tangtse for Pangong.
  • We pass through several small villages in Changthang, and finally, we will have a stunning view of Pangong Lake, situated at 14,000 feet.
  • This famous blue brackish lake is 5-6 kilometers wide and over 133 kilometers long, with half of it running along the "Indo-China Border."
  • One rarely feels so close to nature, and the scenery is unforgettable.
  • In June, July, and August, due to snow melting, the Shyok route is closed; in such cases, an additional charge of INR 4,000 for an SUV and INR 7,000 for a traveler will apply for the Warila route.
  • Morning at leisure to explore the beauty of the lake.
  • Later, we drive back to Leh via Changla Pass (5486 meters).
  • En route, visit the following monuments:
    • 3 Idiots Famed School
    • Thiksey Monastery
    • Shey Palace and Museum
  • Drive further to Leh and check in at our hotel for the night.
  • In the morning, transfer to the Domestic Airport to catch your flight to the onward destination.
  • End your tour on a high note.

Acute Mountain Sickness:
  • Precautionary Measures: No activities are planned for the first day of your trip unless specifically requested, to help you acclimate.
  • First Day Recovery: It is expected that you should feel better by the first evening.
  • Breathing Stabilization: If your breathing stabilizes before leaving for Nubra, Pangong, or Tso Moriri, issues are highly unlikely but not impossible.
  • Oxygen Cylinder: If breathing issues persist, carry an oxygen cylinder or can. Rental charges for oxygen cylinders range from INR 500 to INR 1000 per day for the entire journey.
  • Avoid Alcohol: Do not consume alcohol on the first day.
  • Hydration: Drink enough water throughout the trip.

  • Test Drive: It is crucial to judge the bike's condition. Please request a test drive before hiring, especially for difficult terrains.

  • Leh Bike Restrictions: Bikes rented outside Leh are not allowed for sightseeing in Ladakh, including Pangong Tso, Nubra Valley, and Khardung La. They can only be used to enter Leh from Srinagar-Leh Highway or Manali-Leh Highway. For local sightseeing, rent a bike from a rental shop in Leh.
  • Private Bikes: Private bikes are allowed everywhere in Ladakh. The private bike should be in your name or your father/mother's name. Having document proof associated with your and the bike owner's identities is generally sufficient.
  • Ladakh Police: Unlike the rest of India, the police in Ladakh appreciate people who follow rules. Do not flaunt the rules.
Important Note: The Ladakh motorbike rental association has set up check posts at various sightseeing locations, and they are mostly very active in checking, especially during the season. Hence, do not get into any kind of unpleasant situation if confronted and at fault. It will most likely ruin your trip and the days you took off from work. The best approach in such cases is to act ignorant of the rule and agree to return to Leh to rent a motorbike for sightseeing.

Things to Know If Kashmir/Jammu is Included:
  • SIM Cards: Pre-paid SIMs do not work in Jammu, Kashmir (mostly all carriers), and Ladakh (BSNL, JIO, & Airtel). Post-paid SIMs with approved KYC are required.

  • In Ladakh, AC/heater charges are mentioned in the Union Rate Sheet. Amount has to be compensated as per the rate sheet.
  • In Ladakh, the driver must follow the Union Rate Sheet; in case of route diversion, the traveler must compensate for the excess amount incurred.
  • Due to the Local Taxi Union, Srinagar taxis are not allowed from the base of Pahalgam, Sonamarg, and Gulmarg.
    • Pahalgam - Aru, Betaab, and Chandanwari Valley costs additionally. Rates are listed on the display at the taxi stand.
    • Sonmarg sightseeing, i.e., Thajwas Glacier and Fish Point charges are additional. Rates must be bargained and discussed with drivers. There are no fixed rates at Sonmarg.
    • Gulmarg sightseeing - There is not much to see here except enjoying the world's tallest Gondola/Ropeway; however, if you want to enjoy small sights, then a local vehicle must be hired at an additional cost.
  • Due to snowfall, if taxi vehicles with tires cannot travel to Gulmarg, the traveler has to hire another vehicle from Tangmarg. This will incur an additional cost.
