Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 Cochin Arrival - Munnar
  • Upon your arrival in Cochin, you will proceed to Munnar, a breathtaking haven of peace and tranquility that cannot be captured in a single canvas.

  • You will often find yourself above the clouds, watching veils of mist clinging to the mountaintops.
  • Among the exotic flora in the forests and grasslands is the Neelakurinji (Strobilanthes), a flower that blooms once every twelve years and blankets the hills in blue.
  • On your way to Munnar, visit the Cheeyappara and Valara waterfalls:
    • The Cheeyappara Waterfall cascades down in seven steps.
    • Valara features a chain of waterfalls surrounded by thick green forests.

  • After breakfast, proceed to Munnar for a full day of sightseeing.
  • Visit Mattupetty Dam (ticket price extra), a concrete gravity dam built in the mountains that offers many fascinating sights.

  • Later, visit Kundala Dam (ticket price extra), where the famous Neelakurinji flowers bloom once every twelve years, covering the hills and valleys around Kundala Lake.
  • En route, visit Echo Point and Pothamedu View Point.
  • Echo Point is surrounded by abundant greenery and always offers a lush, picturesque view.

  • Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary:
    • The sanctuary features a picturesque lake at its heart, formed by the construction of a dam in 1895.
    • The reservoir meanders around the wooded hills, providing a permanent water source for local wildlife.
    • Though it is a Tiger Reserve, tourists often see Indian elephants playing and bathing in the waters of Periyar Lake.
  • Overnight stay in Thekkady.
  • After breakfast, check out from the hotel and proceed to Alleppey, a destination known for its immense natural beauty, often referred to as the "Venice of the East."

  • Kovalam comprises three adjacent crescent-shaped beaches:
    • The southernmost and most popular beach is Lighthouse Beach.
    • The middle beach is known as Hawah Beach.
    • Samudra Beach in the north remains the least affected by modernity.
  • Kovalam offers accommodations to suit all budgets.
  • The boundless blue waters of the Arabian Sea and miles of white sands, washed by the surf at the feet of towering palms and rocky promontories, make this beach a paradise.

    • The Zoo
    • The Museum
  • The rest of the day is free to relax and enjoy the beach.

  • Start by visiting Sri Padmanabhaswamy Temple, which is 260 years old and the city's most religious icon, built by the Travancore Royal family. The deity, Padmanabha, reclines on the sacred serpent Anantha and is made from over 10,000 salagramam (sacred stones) brought from Nepal by elephants.
  • Next, visit Puthe Maliga Palace Museum (ticket price extra), a 200-year-old palace featuring carved wooden ceilings, marble sculptures, and imported Belgian glass. The museum showcases Kathakali images, an armory, portraits of maharajas, ornate thrones, and other artifacts.
  • Later, visit Veli Tourist Village, a popular picnic spot known for its peaceful serenity, where the lake meets the Arabian Sea. The main attractions are the floating bridge and the floating restaurant, which serves a variety of delicious dishes.
  • By evening, proceed to Shankumugham Beach, famous for its breathtaking sunset views. A beautiful mermaid sculpture, over 35 meters long, is a major attraction at this beach.

The hotel rooms in all the places were very good except the rooms in Kovalam alt (Read More)hough the hotel location in Kovalam was excellent... Also the Boathouse was very beautiful... And at night it was not parked in a congested area which was good...So, overall we had a good experience in lodging with Forido Travels and Tourism... Thank you...
If our driver was a bit interactive then our journey would have been better as i (Read More)n this tour we have sent most of our time in the road, travelling... No doubt he was well mannered and a nice person but it seemed, he was not at all interested in answering to our queries... Sometimes we keep asking him something in both English and Hindi but he doesn't even look at us... And also, most of the time he drove at a speed of 20 to 30 km/hr and he is constantly video chatting with others, so he kept on driving very slowly... Only once he drove nicely when we had to reach Alleppey from Thekkady after much request from me and my brother... Thank you...
