Detailed Itinerary
Upon arrival at NJP Station, you will be warmly received by our representative and hit the road for a scenic 4-hour drive to Phuentsholing, the bustling gateway town to Bhutan. The journey takes you through the picturesque tea gardens and plains of North Bengal before reaching the border checkpoint. After completing the necessary immigration formalities, you will check into your hotel for a relaxing overnight stay in Phuentsholing to prepare for your journey into the land of the Thunder Dragon.
Morning transfer to Thimphu after completing the permit process at the Phuentsholing Immigration Office. This is approximately a 5-hour drive from Phuentsholing. Thimphu, Bhutan’s capital, occupies a valley in the country’s western interior. In addition to being the government seat, the city is known for its Buddhist sites. The massive Tashichho Dzong is a fortified monastery and government palace with gold-leaf roofs. The Memorial Chorten, a whitewashed structure with a gold spire, is a revered Buddhist shrine dedicated to Bhutan’s third king, Jigme Dorji Wangchuk. Check in at the hotel and overnight stay at Thimphu.
Morning transfer to Punakha, approximately 90 kilometers and nearly a 3-hour drive from Thimphu. En route, visit Dochula Pass, Chimi Lhakhang, Punakha Dzong, and the Suspension Bridge (the longest bridge in Bhutan). Overnight stay in Thimphu.
After breakfast, sightseeing begins: Durga Temple / Shiv Temple, Buddha Point, Coronation Park, Takin Zoo (national animal of Bhutan), Memorial Chorten, Thimphu Dzong, and Simply Bhutan (traditional culture program). Overnight stay in Paro.
Morning visit: Rinpung Dzong (Paro Dzong), Kyichu Lhakhang Monastery, Drukgyal Dzong (presently closed to tourists), Tiger’s Nest Monastery viewpoint, and Ta Dzong (Paro Museum). Optional: Hike to Tiger’s Nest Monastery (the uphill hike takes around 2–3 hours each way). Paro Taktsang is a prominent Himalayan Buddhist sacred site, with the temple complex perched on the cliffside of the upper Paro valley. The complex was first built in 1692 around the Taktsang Senge Samdup cave, where Guru Padmasambhava is said to have meditated for three years, three months, three weeks, three days, and three hours in the 8th century. Padmasambhava is credited with introducing Buddhism to Bhutan and is the tutelary deity of the country. Today, Paro Taktsang is the best known of the thirteen 'tiger lair' caves in which he meditated. Overnight stay in Paro.
Morning transfer to Phuentsholing from Paro. Overnight stay at Phuentsholing.
After breakfast, check out from the Phuentsholing hotel and transfer for departure. (Tour ends)
