Day 1 Arrival at Bagdogra/NJP - Phuentsholing
Upon arrival at Bagdogra Airport or NJP Railway Station, you will be welcomed by Oma Tour & Travel’s representative. Begin your scenic drive to Phuentsholing, passing through lush green tea gardens of the Dooars region. On arrival at Phuentsholing, our representatives will assist you with the immigration formalities required to obtain the necessary permits. After check-in at the hotel, you may relax or explore the local market and town at your own pace.
Overnight stay in Phuentsholing.
After breakfast, embark on a beautiful drive toward Thimphu, Bhutan's capital city. En route, pass through scenic towns such as Gedu—home to Gedu University—and admire the cascading Gedu waterfalls. Stop at Chhukha Dam Viewpoint, a site of national importance as Bhutan's first major hydroelectric project. This hydropower venture not only powers Bhutan but also contributes to the country's economy through energy exports to India. Later, stop at Chuzom—the confluence of rivers—before entering Thimphu. Upon arrival, check in and explore the vibrant Craft Bazaar, which showcases traditional Bhutanese handicrafts by young rural artists.

After breakfast, start your sightseeing at the Buddha Dordenma, one of the world’s tallest Buddha statues, housing 125,000 smaller Buddhas inside. Enjoy stunning panoramic views of Thimphu Valley from this serene location. Descend to visit Devi Panchayan Mandir, a unique Hindu shrine that beautifully blends Bhutanese and Indian architecture, where you can offer prayers and holy water at the sacred Shivling. Continue to the National Memorial Chorten, built in memory of the Third Druk Gyalpo and dedicated to world peace. This whitewashed stupa is one of the most visited and spiritually significant landmarks in Bhutan. In the evening, visit a local Bhutanese Handicraft Shop to discover unique, handmade traditional items.
Overnight stay in Thimphu.
After a leisurely breakfast, depart for Punakha, a valley of historical and cultural significance. En route, stop at Dochula Pass, located at 3,100 meters, known for its stunning panoramic views of the snow-capped Himalayas and 108 beautiful chortens. Upon reaching Punakha, visit the majestic Punakha Dzong, also known as the “Palace of Great Happiness,” set at the confluence of the Pho Chu and Mo Chu rivers. Later, explore the Punakha Suspension Bridge, Bhutan’s second-longest suspension bridge, adorned with fluttering prayer flags, offering breathtaking river and mountain views—perfect for photography.
Overnight stay in Punakha.
Post breakfast, proceed to Paro, retracing the scenic route through Dochula Pass. On arrival, stop at the Paro Airport Viewpoint to witness dramatic views of the valley and the rare sight of planes navigating the narrow mountain terrain. Visit the National Museum of Bhutan, housed in a historic watchtower that exhibits a vast collection of traditional costumes, artifacts, weaponry, and art. Continue to the Rinpung Dzong, known as the “Fortress on a Heap of Jewels,” a remarkable example of Bhutanese architecture. In the evening, take a short stroll around the town to experience its cafés, shops, and vibrant local life.
Overnight stay in Paro.
Today is the highlight of your Bhutan trip—a guided hike to the famous Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest). Perched on a cliff 900 meters above the Paro Valley, this sacred site is one of the most iconic in Bhutan. The hike offers a rewarding experience with spectacular views and spiritual serenity. Optional lunch is available at the Taktsang Cafeteria en route. After your descent, begin your drive back to Phuentsholing for your final night in Bhutan.

After breakfast, our representative will assist you with your exit formalities and arrange your transfer to Bagdogra Airport or NJP Railway Station for your onward journey.
