Detailed Itinerary
Day 1 Arrival in Paro - Transfer to Thimphu
- Land in Paro, meet your guide and driver, and drive to Thimphu (approximately 1.5 to 2 hours) through scenic valleys.
- En route, stop by Tamchog Lhakhang (the iron bridge) for a peaceful introduction to Bhutan's heritage.
- In the evening, stroll through Thimphu Town: visit the Clock Tower Square, shop for local crafts, and immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the capital.
Day 2 Thimphu Exploration
- Morning visit to Buddha Dordenma for panoramic views.
- Then head to National Memorial Chorten, followed by the Folk Heritage Museum or the Institute for Traditional Arts to see weaving, painting, and more.
- After lunch, drive up to Changangkha Lhakhang for more spiritual vibes and views.
- End the afternoon at Tashichho Dzong. Evening free to relax and enjoy local cafés or markets.
Day 3 Thimphu - Punakha via Dochula Pass
- Depart Thimphu after breakfast and ascend Dochula Pass (3,100 m), known for its 108 stupas and stunning mountain views.
- Descend into the lush Punakha Valley.
- Stop at Chimi Lhakhang (Fertility Temple) for a short, easy hike and to experience local culture.
- Settle into Punakha for the evening and enjoy the riverside scenery and the tranquility of rural life.
Day 4 Discover Punakha
- Visit Punakha Dzong, one of the most beautiful dzongs in Bhutan, located at the confluence of two rivers.
- Walk across its suspension bridge for stunning views.
- Trek up to Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten, which offers spectacular views of the valley.
- Afternoon free: relax in Punakha, take walks in the valleys, or enjoy the local surroundings.
Day 5 Return to Paro & Paro Highlights
- Drive back to Paro, crossing Dochula again. If you wish, stop at the viewpoints or café along the way.
- In Paro, visit Paro Rinpung Dzong, explore Ta Dzong (National Museum), and Kyichu Lhakhang to immerse yourself in history and culture.
- In the evening, wander around Paro town. You can shop for handicrafts or relax in a local guesthouse or café.
Day 6 Hike to Taktsang (Tiger’s Nest) Monastery
- Embark on the iconic hike to Tiger's Nest Monastery, perched dramatically on a cliffside.
- Walk through pine forests lined with prayer flags, stop midway at a café with stunning views, and continue past a waterfall and bridge before reaching the sacred monastery.
- Explore its serene prayer halls and soak in the legend of Guru Rinpoche, who meditated here centuries ago. Return to Paro and relax.
Day 7 Departure from Paro – Farewell Bhutan
- Enjoy your final morning in the serene Paro Valley.
- If time permits, take a short stroll through town or visit a nearby stupa before heading to the airport.
- Depart with lasting memories of Bhutan's sacred temples, majestic mountains, and the warm smiles of its people.
