Day 1 Arrive at Bagdogra/NJP – Darjeeling
Upon arrival at Bagdogra Airport or NJP Railway Station, you will be greeted and assisted before beginning your scenic drive to Darjeeling. Perched at an altitude of 2134m, Darjeeling—meaning ‘Dorje Ling’ or ‘Place of the Thunderbolt’—is famously known as the “Queen of the Hills.” With views of the majestic Kanchendzonga and surrounded by world-famous tea gardens and waterfalls, Darjeeling is an enchanting Himalayan town with British charm, quaint villages, and its iconic narrow-gauge railway. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Start your day early with a visit to Tiger Hill (subject to availability of coupon) to witness a breathtaking sunrise over the Himalayas, including views of Mt. Everest and Kanchendzonga. Watch the sky transform with hues of orange and gold. Return to the hotel for breakfast and later set off for a full-day sightseeing tour covering Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (closed on Thursday), Zoological Park (closed on Thursday), Tenzing Rock, Gombu Rock, Japanese Temple and Peace Pagoda, and a drive past the Tea Estate (from outside). Overnight stay at the hotel.
After breakfast, drive to Gangtok, the capital city of Sikkim, en route stopping by the beautiful Teesta village. Located at 1750m altitude, Gangtok is a blend of tradition and modernity. Rich in Buddhist heritage, the city is known for its monasteries, vibrant orchids, and sweeping views of the Himalayas. Upon arrival, check-in and relax. Overnight stay at the hotel.
After breakfast, proceed for a full-day sightseeing tour in Gangtok visiting Tashi View Point, Ganesh Tok, Hanuman Tok, Plant Conservatory, Handicraft Centre, Institute of Tibetology, Do Drul Chorten, Bakthang Waterfall and enjoy a ropeway ride (on direct payment). Return to the hotel by evening. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel and head out for a day trip to the spectacular Changu Lake, located 35 km from Gangtok at an altitude of 12,400 ft. The lake is sacred and surrounded by snow-covered peaks and legends say that monks used to predict the future by observing the colour of the lake. Later, visit the New Baba Mandir. Return to Gangtok by evening. Overnight stay at the hotel.
After breakfast, depart for Kalimpong—a peaceful hill station nestled at 1250m and known for its colonial-era charm and pleasant weather. Once a trading post between India and Tibet, Kalimpong is now a serene destination with a mix of British and Buddhist heritage. In the afternoon, enjoy local sightseeing covering Mangal Dham, Durpin Hill, and the vibrant flower nurseries. Overnight stay at the hotel.
After breakfast, check out and drive back to Bagdogra Airport or NJP Railway Station for your onward journey.
