Permits & Documentation

• Indian nationals require an Inner Line Permit (ILP) to enter Arunachal Pradesh; foreign nationals require a Protected Area Permit (PAP) instead.
• Each traveller must share a photo ID copy and a passport-size photo 3–4 days prior to travel — the agency handles ILP processing on your behalf.
• Carry your original ID at all times; checkpoints along the route will ask for it.

Madhuri Lake (Sangetsar Lake) & Bum La Pass Excursion

• This is a separate, optional full-day excursion from Tawang, subject to a local permit issued via the Tawang District Administration and Army, requiring original ID, a photo, and vehicle registration details.
• Only Tawang-registered SUVs are permitted beyond a certain checkpoint — your sedan cannot make this leg, so a local vehicle is arranged separately.
• Approximate cost: Rs. 5,500–6,000 per vehicle (4–6 pax) plus a nominal per-person fee; quoted separately from the base package.
• Entirely weather- and Army-clearance dependent — best to keep a buffer day in the plan in case the pass is closed.
• No photography permitted at Bum La itself — only at the designated "I Love Bumla" point; a paid Army photo service is available there.
• Foreign nationals are not permitted on this excursion, as it lies in a restricted zone near the India–China border.
• AMS (altitude sickness) risk at 15,200 ft — carry warm clothing and any personal/motion-sickness medication; a packed lunch is recommended for this day since food options are minimal.

Wayside Amenities & Practical Tips

• Mobile connectivity is limited in Tawang, Bum La and Dirang — only BSNL and Airtel postpaid connections work reliably.
• ATMs are limited beyond Guwahati and Tezpur — carry sufficient cash for the rest of the trip.
• Fuel stations are sparse in the higher reaches — the driver will plan refuelling stops accordingly.
• Food en route is simple dhaba-style; hotels in Tawang, Dirang and Bomdila offer both veg and non-veg meals, with Monpa specialities (thukpa, momos) worth trying. Jain/veg meals available on request. Non-veg options reduce closer to high altitude.
• Room heaters should be requested in advance at hotels in the higher-altitude stops.
• Alcohol and non-veg food are restricted near monasteries on religious days.
• The itinerary, sightseeing order and drive times are subject to change based on weather, especially around Sela Pass and the Bum La excursion.
