Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 Arrival – Bagdogra Airport / NJP Railway Station – Phuentsholing
  • Meet and greet by our representative at Bagdogra Airport or New Jalpaiguri (NJP) Railway Station 
  • Drive to Phuentsholing, the gateway to Bhutan.
  • Check in to the hotel.
  • Evening at leisure to explore Phuentsholing town, visit Zangto Pelri Lhakhang, or enjoy a stroll through the local market.
  • Overnight: Phuentsholing

Distance: 150 km | Driving Time: Approx. 5–6 Hours

  • After breakfast, complete the Bhutan immigration formalities.
  • Begin your scenic drive to Thimphu, Bhutan's capital city, through winding mountain roads and picturesque landscapes.
  • Stop at viewpoints along the way for refreshments and photographs.
  • Lunch en route.
  • Upon arrival in Thimphu, check in to the hotel.
  • Evening at leisure to explore Thimphu town, local cafés, and handicraft shops.

  • Drive to Punakha via the scenic Dochula Pass (3,100 m).

  • Continue to Punakha and visit:
    • Punakha Dzong, the majestic fortress located at the confluence of the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers.
    • Punakha Suspension Bridge, one of the longest suspension bridges in Bhutan.
    • Chimi Lhakhang (Temple of Fertility), followed by a pleasant walk through traditional villages and paddy fields.
  • Lunch at a local restaurant in Punakha.
  • Drive back to Thimphu in the evening.

Overnight: Thimphu

Distance: 50 km | Driving Time: Approx. 1.5 Hours

After breakfast, enjoy a full morning sightseeing tour of Bhutan's capital city. Visit:

  • Buddha Dordenma
  • Memorial Chorten
  • Motithang Takin Preserve
  • Tashichho Dzong (outside view if open to visitors)
  • Simply Bhutan Museum (optional)
  • Centenary Farmers' Market (open on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays)

After lunch, drive to Paro. Upon arrival in Paro:

  • Visit Rinpung Dzong.
  • Paro ta Dzong ( National Museum of Bhutan) 
  • Explore Paro Town, known for its traditional architecture, handicraft shops, and cafés.

Overnight: Paro

After an early breakfast:

  • Hike to the iconic Paro Taktsang (Tiger's Nest Monastery) (approximately 4–5 hours round trip).
