Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 Guwahati Airport / Rly Station – Kaziranga National Park
  • Welcome to Awesome Assam.
  • Meet and be assisted by our representative at Guwahati Airport/Railway Station.
  • Transfer to Kaziranga National Park, home of the One-Horned Indian Rhinoceros.
  • Check in at your hotel.
  • The evening is free for leisure activities.
  • Overnight stay at Kaziranga National Park.
  • Early morning exploration of one zone of Kaziranga National Park on the back of an elephant (extra cost).
  • The park is home to the world's endangered One-Horned Indian Rhinoceros and sustains half the world's population of genetically pure Wild Water Buffaloes.
  • It also hosts over 1,000 Wild Elephants and perhaps the densest population of Royal Bengal Tigers anywhere.
  • Kaziranga National Park is a birdwatcher's paradise, home to approximately 500 species of birds.
  • We will return to the resort for breakfast.
  • In the afternoon, we will proceed for a jeep safari.
  • Overnight stay at Kaziranga National Park.

  • On the way, visit the Tipi Orchidarium, situated on the banks of the Bharali River, which displays over 500 orchids, including some rare species. Arunachal Pradesh has the largest range of orchids in the country.
  • Take a break to visit the Nag Temple.
  • Continue your drive, and do not forget to keep your cameras handy as you cross beautiful waterfalls and enjoy spectacular views.
  • Upon arrival, check in to the hotel.
  • In the afternoon, visit an apple orchard and a kiwi farm (depending on the season), as well as the Dirang Monastery and the Kalachakra Monastery.
  • Dirang is also famous for its hot water springs, where people bathe to cure skin ailments.
  • Overnight stay at Dirang.
  • Note: Every Indian tourist visiting Arunachal Pradesh must obtain an ILP (Inner Line Permit) at the Bhalukpong border before entering the state. This requires the submission of a photo identity card and two copies of passport-sized photographs.
  • After an early breakfast, proceed to Tawang, the Land of Hidden Paradise.
  • On the way, enjoy the beauty of Sela Pass (13,700 ft), which serves as the border between Tawang and West Kameng.
  • Visit Sela Lake, a small lake that remains frozen for most of the year.
  • Continue driving for 10 km to visit Jaswant Garh War Memorial, dedicated to the brave soldier who single-handedly tried to hold off the approaching Chinese forces during the 1962 Indo-Chinese War.
  • Later, visit the majestic Nuranng Falls, where scenes from the SRK-Madhuri Dixit film “Koyla” were shot.
  • Arrive and check in to the hotel.
  • The evening is free for leisure.
  • Overnight stay at Tawang.
  • After an early breakfast, you will drive to visit the high-altitude lake known as Shonga-tser Lake, popularly referred to as Madhuri Lake, located 35 km away from Tawang near the China border.
  • The drive to Sangestser Lake is thrilling, and you can still see the war bunkers that were used during the Chinese aggression in 1962.
  • Nestled amidst pristine mountains and picturesque surroundings, the lake was formed in the aftermath of the 1950 earthquake.
  • Prior to the earthquake, this area was used as grazing ground for cattle, as evidenced by the protruding trunks of dead trees in the middle of the lake.
  • The lake is supervised by Army personnel, who have also arranged for a nearby cafeteria.
  • Tourists can enjoy delicious momos and Maggi, topped off with a cup of tasty coffee or tea.
  • Visitors can also trek around the lake while enjoying the gentle breeze.
  • You can drive further to Bumla Pass, located about 37 km away from Tawang at the Indo-China border, over 15,200 ft above sea level.
  • On the return journey, take a photo stop at the beautiful PTSO Lake, located 17 km away from Tawang, also known as Pangong Tang Tso Lake, which offers an extremely scenic drive with a bird’s eye view of the township below.
  • Later in the afternoon, drive back to the hotel.
  • The rest of the evening is at leisure, with an overnight stay at the hotel.
  • After breakfast, transfer to Bomdila (8,200 ft.), the headquarters of the West Kameng District of Arunachal Pradesh, known for its Buddhist monasteries.
  • Bomdila offers many attractions for visitors, including a cool climate.
  • Upon arrival, check in to the hotel.
  • In the evening, visit Gentse Gaden Rabgyel Ling Monastery (Upper Gompa) and Bomdila Monastery.
  • Overnight stay in Bomdila.
  • After breakfast, proceed to Guwahati.
  • Upon arrival in Guwahati, check in at the hotel.
  • Overnight stay in Guwahati.
  • After breakfast, visit Kamakhya Temple (Timings: 8 AM to 1 PM and 3 PM to 6 PM).
  • Explore other temples in Guwahati, including:

  • Visit the Assam State Museum.

    • Arunachal Pradesh Hotels: Most hotels in Arunachal are basic and do not compare to those in Guwahati and Shillong.
    • ILP: An Inner Line Permit is required to enter Arunachal Pradesh. Required documents include Aadhaar Card or Voter Card for everyone, Birth Certificate for minors (if Aadhaar card is not available), and passport-sized photographs for everyone. The Inner Line Permit office is closed on Saturdays and Sundays.
    • Bumla Pass: A non-AC Sumo will be provided for Bumla Pass.
    • Kaziranga National Park: It has different ranges: Kohora (Central Range), Bagori (Western Range), Agoratoli (Eastern Range), and Burapahar (Ghoraketi Range).
    • Jeep Safari: Timings are from 07:30 AM to 09:30 AM and 02:00 PM to 04:00 PM (available from November to April).
    • Elephant Safari: Timings are from 05:15 AM to 06:15 AM and 06:30 AM to 07:30 AM (available from November to April). Note: Elephant rides and timings are decided by the Kaziranga National Park Management. We do not have control over the booking. Elephant rides and jeep safaris are subject to availability.
    • Cherrapunjee Hotels: Most hotels in Cherrapunjee are not categorized as 3-star or 4-star. They do not compare to hotels in Guwahati and Shillong.
  • CANCELLATION POLICY:
    • Less than 7 days prior to the date of travel: 100% of the package cost as a cancellation charge.
    • 7 – 15 days prior to the date of travel: 75% of the package cost as a cancellation charge.
    • 16 - 40 days prior to the date of travel: 50% of the package cost as a cancellation charge.
    • More than 40 days: Full refund of package cost excluding processing fees of INR 1000 per person.
    • For 4-star premium and 5-star properties, the cancellation policy will apply as per the respective property’s cancellation policy.

    • Rooms are not blocked. We reserve the right to rearrange the itinerary to suit hotel availability without changing the total number of days in each destination and without compromising any services.
    • The vehicle used is AC/NAC and is available for point-to-point services only; it is not at your disposal. Clients are requested to follow the itinerary. Car service hours are from 9 AM to 5 PM; for any emergencies, services are available 24 hours.
