Day 1 Arrival in Nairobi – Transfer to Amboseli National Park
Upon arrival in Kenya, set off for Amboseli National Park, arriving in time for lunch at your lodge or camp. The afternoon is yours to relax before heading out on your first game drive. Amboseli is world-renowned for its large herds of free-roaming African elephants set against the backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro—Africa’s tallest peak. The park’s open plains, swampy springs, and views from Observation Hill make for stunning photo ops, especially at sunset.

Stay: Hotel/Camp in Amboseli
After breakfast, journey toward Lake Naivasha, arriving in time for lunch. In the afternoon, visit Crescent Island Wildlife Sanctuary, accessible via a short boat ride or road transfer. This hidden gem is one of Kenya’s few walking safari destinations, offering close-up encounters with giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, impalas, and over 200 species of birds. The lake is also home to pods of hippos that can be spotted from the shoreline.

After breakfast, depart for Lake Nakuru, enjoying the scenic drive through the Great Rift Valley. Stop briefly at the Subukia Viewpoint for panoramic views. After breakfast, drive to the legendary Masai Mara, Kenya’s premier safari destination. Pass through the town of Narok and arrive at your camp in time for lunch. In the afternoon, set out on your first Masai Mara game drive, exploring the vast savannahs and rich wildlife—including big cats, elephants, antelopes, and more.

Stay: Camp/Lodge in Masai Mara
After breakfast, spend a full day exploring the Masai Mara on morning and afternoon game drives with a packed picnic lunch. This is the best place to spot the Big Five and other animals such as wildebeests, giraffes, and hyenas. If visiting from July to September, witness the awe-inspiring Great Wildebeest Migration. You can also opt to visit a traditional Maasai village to learn about their culture (entry paid directly).

Just went for 8 day safari with James and Wild Portraits Safaris...it was spot o (Read More)n perfect. Reasons 1.Clear communication and replies always comes very quickly on WhatsApp. 2. Very genuine with suggestions and doesn't do things as a job or formality. 3. James is very knowledgeable. 4. The enthusiasm and passion shown by James was just so infectious. 5. The planning of itinerary takes care of all the finer details. 6. They really take care of your focus and they don't try to sell anything you are not interested in. For example we skipped the village visit because we didn't see value in it. 7. Quite flexible and adjusts as things progress.

The entire trip was handled with extreme professionalism by both Janet and our g (Read More)uide Bonnie. We got to see the Big5 within 3 days of our itenary and more on the next days. Janet was very thorough with our itenary and helped us throughout and Bonnie knew all the best spots on all of our game drives. We didn't feel rushed throughout our tour, because it is designed very well to accomodate enough rest. 10/10 recommend
