Day 1 Arrival at Srinagar and Local Sightseeing
  • Arrival at Srinagar Airport.
  • Transfer to the hotel and prepare for the city tour.
  • Visit the Shankaracharya Temple, situated on the highest hill of Srinagar, and the famous Mughal Gardens: Chashme Shahi, Nishat, and Shalimar. These gardens were the Mughal Emperors' concept of paradise and are popular picnic spots today.
  • Also visit the handicraft shop where you can purchase local handcrafted items such as shawls, jackets, bed covers, papier-mâché, carpets, and much more.
  • In the evening, take a leisurely stroll alongside Dal Lake and explore the local markets.
  • Overnight stay at the hotel.
  • Leave for Sonamarg in the morning. Also known as the 'Meadow of Gold,' Sonamarg is the last stop in the Kashmir district.
  • From here, the territory of Ladakh begins. Situated at an altitude of 2,743 meters above sea level, the fast-flowing Sindh River is popular for trout and masher fishing in the summer.
  • You can opt for a pony ride to one of the glaciers for some fun in the snow and ice (at your own expense).
  • Return to Srinagar in the evening.

Right from the planning stage, our coordination with Razia and Asim was very good. They were both helpful, responsive and easy to communicate with. Whenever we had any questions or needed any assistance during the trip, they were available and tried to resolve things quickly. The traveller arranged for our family was comfortable, and having a dedicated vehicle made travelling between different destinations much easier and convenient, especially with a family. The hotels were good and comfortable, and the package included breakfast and dinner, which was very convenient. After spending the day sightseeing, it was nice to have the stay and meals already taken care of. What we liked most was that we didn't have to constantly worry about the arrangements. The transportation, hotels and meals were all planned as part of the package, allowing us to focus on enjoying the beautiful Kashmir scenery and spending quality time with our family. Of course, like any trip, there can always be small things that could be improved, but overall our experience with Velmora Holidays was smooth, comfortable and hassle-free.
