Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 Wilson Airport Nairobi to Masai Mara National Reserve

Pick up will be at Jomo Kenyatta Airport by our representatives, where you will receive a brief overview of what to expect during your safari.
Later, transfer to Wilson Airport for your short flight into the heart of Masai Mara National Reserve.
Your safari guide will meet you at the airstrip and transfer you to the camp to relax and have lunch.
The reserve covers 700 square miles of magnificent wilderness, representing the Africa of the imagination with endless reaches of acacia-dotted grasslands and hazy hills.
Enjoy an afternoon game drive to see the sundowner while tracking the Big 5, including lions in large prides, elephants, buffalo, zebras, and numerous plains game.
Dinner and overnight stay at Serenity Mara Legends Camp.

Day 2 Full Day at Masai Mara National Reserve

Full day spent exploring the park in search of the Big Five and other predators.
Optional hot air balloon safari can be arranged at an extra cost of US$ 450 per person.
Dinner and overnight at Serenity Mara Legends Camp.
The Mara offers wildlife in such variety and abundance that it is difficult to believe: over 450 species of animals have been recorded here.
You will easily see lions, rhinos, hippos, crocodiles, giraffes, wildebeests, zebras, buffalo, warthogs, hyenas, jackals, wild dogs, leopards, many kinds of antelopes, and elephants.
It is in the Mara that perhaps the most spectacular event of the natural world takes place: the annual migration of millions of wildebeest and zebras from the Serengeti (Tanzania) in search of water and pasture.
Following on their heels are the predators of the savanna: lions, cheetahs, wild dogs, jackals, hyenas, and vultures.

Day 3 Exploring the Heart of Masai Mara

We have a very flexible itinerary, and game drives are tailored to your interests with our experienced professional safari guide.
Early morning game drives with a picnic breakfast increase your chances of witnessing the sunrise and observing animals while they are still active.
The morning serenity is indescribable; you simply have to experience it.
Explore the spotted savannah with its diverse landscapes to capture beautiful animals with your camera.
The Mara River, where river crossings occur in July, August, and September, is the main water body winding through this paradise.
Hippopotamuses and Nile crocodiles call this river home, making it the best place in the reserve to catch a glimpse of them as they bask on the riverbanks.
Other rivers include the Talek River and smaller tributaries like the Sekenani River.
The Sand River is another picturesque area in the Masai Mara, located right at the border with the endless plains of the Serengeti.
Our safari guide will explain more about nature as it unfolds right in front of you, helping you find the best angles for that perfect shot!
After a fulfilling adventurous day, you will retire to your strategically located safari camp or lodge for a sumptuous dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4 Masai Mara to Wilson Airport Nairobi

You will be transferred to the airstrip to board your flight back to Nairobi, departing between 8:30 AM and 9:30 AM or at 11:00 AM, arriving in Nairobi at 12:30 PM.
Upon arrival at Wilson Airport, you will be met by our driver who will transfer you either to a hotel or to the airport for check-in for your homebound flight.

Cost is on a per person basis with a minimum of two people traveling together.
Clients are required to have a valid visa.
A yellow fever vaccination certificate is also required when visiting Kenya.

Cancellation Policy

All bookings made with Wild Portraits Safaris are subject to these terms.

Payment, Cancellation, and Refund Policy:

A deposit of at least 40% of the booking value is required to confirm the booking. The deposit amount may vary based on the tour type and will be communicated to you before making the booking.
Once the booking is accepted, a booking confirmation email with the voucher will be sent to you, which will serve as a contract between us from the date of confirmation.
All details regarding the balance payment due before the departure date will be included in the booking voucher. If the balance is not paid by the due date, we reserve the right to cancel the booking.
In case of cancellations, the following charges will apply on the amount paid:
- 45% if cancelled between 60 and 45 days prior to arrival.
- 60% if cancelled between 44 and 30 days prior to arrival.
- 100% if cancelled 30 days or less prior to arrival.

If you Change Your Booking:

After your booking has been confirmed, if you wish to make any changes to your itinerary or request an earlier departure date, we will make every effort to accommodate your requests based on availability.
However, there may be additional costs involved to accommodate your request, which are in addition to the fee quoted for your initial safari.
Normal cancellation fees will apply if you wish to postpone your departure.

Just went for 8 day safari with James and Wild Portraits Safaris...it was spot on perfect. Reasons 1.Clear communication and replies always comes very quickly on WhatsApp. 2. Very genuine with suggestions and doesn't do things as a job or formality. 3. James is very knowledgeable. 4. The enthusiasm and passion shown by James was just so infectious. 5. We just came back from our second safari trip with James of Wild Portraits Safari. We had the greatest possible experience during our 9 day-trip from Amboseli (Kenya), to Tarangine, Ngorongoro, Sereng (Read More)eti (Tanzania) and then to the Mara in Kenya. The full trip was well organized and included so many highlights: beautiful sights, the landscapes, the wildlife, James' ability to find the quiet spots with magnificent viewing, great accommodations, breakfast in the Mara, horseback riding amongst buffalo, hyena and giraffes, and of course James' great company, his care for his guests and his drive to make the full experience perfect. We are already planning our next visit and will certainly travel with James again. I highly recommend his services to anyone looking for a fantastic vacation.

I have been on multiple photography tours, both to Africa and other places, and let me just say that the photography tour that I just took with Wild Portraits Safaris (WPS) ranks up there with the bes (Read More)t of the best. Everything about the trip was simply spot on perfect. From the very beginning communications, through a need for me to reschedule (my own fault, not theirs), through to the final minutes of the tour...everything was smooth, easy, well-communicated and perfectly executed. I went to Amboseli, Lake Naivashu, and the Mara. I was set up in great accommodations, with special consideration on making sure that we were able to get out into the field in the shortest amount of time. A few things that set WPS apart from other tours. First is the ability to personalize the tour to your interests. Unlike other safari tours with set schedules and specifically timed-itineraries, just let James, the owner/driver/ tour guide, know your interests and he'll continually plan and look out for opportunities and present options to you. For me, he knew I was interested in experiencing as much as possible, so he made sure that we had all day game drives while in the Mara. Second is the fact that James is an excellent photographer, himself. That means that he is constantly looking for the perfect lighting, angle, and composition to hep you get your best photos. Third, you cannot find any tour guide with as much passion for his job. This has led him to learn as much as possible about the land, the conservation efforts, the animals and how all of the factors integrate with each other. Each day wasn't just a photo tour: each day was an immersive learning experience. You definitely can't find a tour company that tries as hard as WPS to make sure that you get every ounce of opportunities in the short time that you are there. For instance, he added an impromptu visit to Nairobi National Park, because I had a lot of extra time before my outbound flight. And lastly, James is an extremely nice person. If you go on safari with WPS, you'll leave with tons of photos, memories, and a friend. I've already planned my next trip with WPS.
