Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 Nairobi To Amboseli National Park

Our company representative will pick you up from the airport or your accommodation facility. After a short briefing about the safari, you will be handed over to your experienced driver guide in the morning for a scenic drive Southeast towards Amboseli National Park, arriving in good time for lunch. You'll embark on your first afternoon game drive exploring this acacia woodland, freshwater swamps, scrub brush, and open plains in search of wildlife, returning at sunset for dinner and your overnight stay.

Amboseli National Park (392 sq km) is famously known for the breathtaking view of Mount Kilimanjaro, the tallest freestanding mountain on earth and the tallest in Africa (5895m). Amboseli is also an elephant’s paradise where the massive African savannah elephants roam from swamp to swamp, grazing all day. Because of the abundance of water and pasture, other animals to be spotted here are cheetahs, zebras, giraffes, gnus, gazelles, hippos, and many others.

You'll leave the camp after breakfast, carrying your packed lunch to be enjoyed in the wild. You'll spend the whole day exploring the marshlands and swamps of Amboseli, which are fed by subterranean water channels. Water is abundant throughout the year, and so is the pasture. Elephants and various other herbivores are found here. You'll retreat to the lodge late in the afternoon after a long exploration of this 392 sq km.

You'll also have an option of starting the day with an early morning game drive to search for animals when they're at their most active. Then, you'll return to the lodge for breakfast and lunch.

You'll spend the hottest part of the day relaxing in the camp, reading your favorite book or just listening to your favorite music while observing the birds. Don't stress, the animals will be doing the same. Afterward, you'll head off in the afternoon (4:00 pm) for another drive through the park. You will return to the lodge at sunset for dinner and your overnight stay.

Today, get ready for an unforgettable adventure! After an early breakfast, you'll embark on a scenic drive past Nairobi towards Lake Nakuru National Park. Along the way, you'll make a stop at the awe-inspiring Great Rift Valley viewpoint to soak in the breathtaking landscapes. Your lunch will be at the picturesque Sopa Lodge, situated on the shores of Lake Naivasha, before continuing your journey to Lake Nakuru. Upon arrival, you'll dive into an exhilarating game drive to discover the park's incredible wildlife. As the day winds down, you'll check into your hotel, ready to unwind from an action-packed day.

This park is a true natural wonder, boasting rocky escarpments, patches of vibrant yellow-barked acacia forest, and a waterfall. It is home to diverse wildlife, including flamingos, black and white rhinos, majestic lions, elusive leopards, buffaloes, and the endangered Rothschild's giraffe. - It's a sight you'll never forget.

Today after breakfast, you will drive through the Rift Valley floor to Masai Mara National Reserve arriving at the lodge in good time for lunch. You will embark on your first game drive in the reserve this afternoon in search of the Big Five and other herbivores that roam around in this beautiful savanna. You'll return to your lodge at sunset for dinner and your overnight stay.

One of our favorite places to look for wildlife in Kenya is the Masai Mara National Reserve. That's because the wildlife here is incredible, with big cats (lions, leopards, and cheetahs) and elephants among the highlights. There's a very good chance you'll also see giraffes, buffalo, wild beasts, zebras, hippos, hyenas, and, of course, impalas. Bring your binoculars, because more than 500 species of birds have been recorded in the reserve. It's a place of beautiful savannah landscapes as well, with lots of acacia trees. You'll visit the reserve is a highlight for many travelers.

This is a full day spent game viewing across the rich tree-studded grassland and rolling hills of the famous savannah. The Mara is renowned for its great herds of plains game animals like leopards, cheetahs, lions, and other herbivores. It has virtually every other type of wildlife to be found in Kenya. You will have a full-day game drive in Masai Mara Savannah.

Your lunch today is picnic lunch boxes in the savannah under a flat-top acacia tree while watching the animals grazing. You will continue with the game viewing en route to your camp, arriving late in the afternoon after thoroughly exploring this massive grassland savannah measuring 1,500 sq.

You can book a balloon ride today that takes off early in the morning. After landing, the crew helps you out of the basket and escorts you to a lovely setting for a bush breakfast, a lifetime experience worth the price. Later, join your driver guide at a location and proceed with your full-day game drive.

Today, prepare for a long but breathtaking drive to the Isebania border post, which separates Kenya and Tanzania. After completing the border immigration process, you will switch vehicles and meet your Tanzanian guide. He will welcome you and take you to the expansive Serengeti National Park in Tanzania, with lunch served en route.

You will arrive at the camp late in the afternoon, so keep an eye out for the millions of animals that inhabit this area during the drive. Tonight, you will enjoy an authentic African safari experience, as the lodge is situated within the national park and in the midst of all the animal activity. Upon arrival, your driver and the camp manager will provide you with a safety briefing.

Please note that the drive from Masai Mara to Serengeti is a true African "massage", featuring rough roads, and can take up to 8–9 hours, including the border crossing and two pit stops. Alternatively, we can arrange a 4-hour flight transfer from Masai Mara to Serengeti.

You will wake up to another glorious day in the Serengeti. You'll start the day with an early morning game drive to search for animals when they're at their most active. Then, you'll return to the lodge for a relaxed breakfast and lunch.

You'll spend the hottest part of the day relaxing in the camp reading your favorite book, writing your journal about the safari, or just listening to your favorite music while observing the birds. Don't stress, the animals will be doing the same. You'll head off again in the afternoon for another drive through the park. You'll return to the lodge for dinner and another night under the Serengeti's stars.

Note: There's also an option for an early hot air balloon ride here. Please ask the tour manager before booking this trip if you're interested.

You will have an early breakfast at 6:00 am, followed by a final game drive through the Serengeti as you exit the park in the morning. After that, you will depart for Ngorongoro with picnic lunches. You will descend into the crater floor for a half-day crater tour. There are only two roads that connect the crater rim with the crater floor, one for driving down one for driving up, and another that goes both ways. The crater is approximately 20 km (12 miles) wide and 600 m (2,000 ft) deep. The floor is home to a rich and highly concentrated wildlife. Some 20,000 mammals of various sizes live there, including about 20 black rhinoceros, making the crater the best place in Tanzania to see the rhino.

The animals here are less wary of humans and vehicles, making it easier to watch them up close as they roam the lakes, rivers, woodlands, and hills. After your time at the crater, you will exit and drive to your lodge located at the rim for dinner and an overnight stay.

After an early breakfast, you will drive to Arusha Airport for your scheduled flight to Zanzibar, known as the Spice Island. This beautiful destination is famous for its idyllic beaches, winding cobblestone alleyways, and vibrant bazaars.

Upon your arrival, our company representative will meet you, and you will head to the northern beaches. If you choose, you can make an optional visit to a spice plantation. During this guided tour, you'll learn about the island's renowned spice trade and have the chance to touch, smell, and taste a variety of spices, including cinnamon, vanilla, and ginger. You can also sample some tea made with these spices.

After lunch, you will proceed to the northern beaches, where you can enjoy the stunning white sand, sparkling blue sea, and beautiful skies of the Indian Ocean. You will arrive at the beach resort in plenty of time to begin your relaxing beach stay.

Spend a full day exploring some of the best beaches in the world. One major destination is Nungwi Beach, located at the northwestern tip of the island. This stunning beach features powdery white sand, crystal blue waters, and an abundance of exotic flora and fauna. You can choose to relax under a coconut tree while listening to music or reading a book. Alternatively, take advantage of the variety of activities available, including scuba diving, snorkeling, and many other aquatic adventures.

We recommend booking these activities through your hotel.

You will enjoy Another free day at the beach in this beautiful archipelago. Today there are so many water activities that you can take including snorkeling in search of exotic fish, scuba diving or simply relaxing in a hammock underneath a coconut tree with a good book or listening to some music.

It is essential to book all aquatic activities, including scuba diving, Mnemba dolphins, and snorkeling, directly through the hotel.

You will check out of your hotel this morning and return to Stone Town by noon to be transferred directly to the airport, marking the end of your safari.

Please note that the most convenient option for departure is Zanzibar Airport. However, if you are departing from Dar es Salaam airport, ferries leave Zanzibar at 7:30 am, 9:30 am, 12:30 pm, and 3:30 pm. It is crucial to allow enough time to return to the mainland if you need to catch your flight from Dar es Salaam Airport.

We can also arrange a flight from Zanzibar to connect with your outbound flight from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, but please refrain from booking it before 3 PM.

Our Camptrek Safari through Kenya and Tanzania provided so many wonderful sights and experiences that will stay with us forever. From elephants mating and Kilimanjaro at Amboseli NP, to close up rhino (Read More)'s at Lake Nakuru, to the lions and feasting hyena's in the Masai Mara, to witnessing the extraordinary wildebeest great migration in the Serengeti, along to the spectacular Ngorongoro crater, and then finally to Zanzibar and the magical Stone Town. What a trip!! Our guides Pilipili (Kenya) and Eliud (Tanzania) were not only really knowledgeable but also very engaging and great company. The optional hot air balloon ride in the Serengeti was great although we were hoping the balloon would have gone to higher elevations. The walking tour in Stone Town was fascinating and although the spice plantation tour in Zanzibar was interesting the constant pressure to put your hand in your pocket got tiresome. The lodge accommodation throughout the safari was brilliant. We highly recommend Camptrek Safaris - enjoy your adventure!

"Mal d'Africa" (longing for Africa) is our feeling (myself and my son) after this experience. We felt (and we're still feeling) a deep emotional connection and desire to experience (back) the continen (Read More)t of Africa, its culture, and its landscapes. It think it's linked to a variety of factors: personal experiences, cultural heritage, romanticized view of Africa. An intense and profound nostalgia felt during and after our jurney and wish to return. it's an emotional and spiritual feeling, difficult to explain clearly: - a strong desire to return to the places visited, to relive the emotions felt and to immerse oneself again in African culture. - a sense of inadequacy and impatience in resuming our daily routine after having lived the African experience - images, colours, sounds and smells of Africa suddenly resurface, creating a sense of nostalgia and desire. ALL the above is absolutely linked, inextricably to our Camptrek Safari team, our "guardian angels", Augustine and Last. They were just perfect in every respect, professional, empathy, knowledge of the populations, animals, history and parks: I really do not know how many questions, experiences... and also jokes we've shared with them. I will never forget the moments of great emotion that I saw my son experience, on his faces, his eyes, his tears: all of this will remain with us forever, in our memories (or better... until next adventures with them! :-)) We would like to thank Petite Margaret as well: she's been simply perfect in guide us at the time of drawing the jurney (10 days: Mombasa - Tsavo East - Amboseli - Tsavo West - Taita Hills - Diani Beach - Mombasa) and supporting us for any kind of info/doubts/also fears we faced during the booking. CAMPTREK GUYS: THANKS FOR ALL and... AFRICA IS A FEELING, YES!
