Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 Nairobi to Lake Nakuru:
  • Early morning pick-up in Nairobi.
  • Drive to Lake Nakuru National Park, located across the equator.
  • Lake Nakuru is the most famous lake in the Rift Valley, known worldwide for its flamingos.
  • The lake is alkaline and recognized as one of the natural wonders of the world.
  • Lake Nakuru is now a rhino sanctuary, home to over 40 black rhinos and more than 60 white rhinos.
  • Flamingos remain the main attraction, with at times nearly 2 million flamingos residing around the lake.
  • Experience a stunningly beautiful deep pink band formed by the flamingos along the lake shore.
  • Arrival in time for lunch, followed by an afternoon game drive.

An early morning drive to Maasai Mara National Reserve. It holds on as one of the few places left on earth where wildlife still lives comparatively undisturbed, in the numbers that once roamed the plains and forests of Africa. As the northern tip of the vast Serengeti ecosystem, the Mara hosts the spectacular seasonal migration of many thousands of Wildebeest, Zebras and attendant predators. Arrival in time for lunch followed by an afternoon game drive.

One full day in the Maasai Mara with flexible schedule and unlimited mileage. After breakfast, we have a full day game drive with packed lunch provided. The reserve is well known for its black-manned lions as well as its abundant resident wildlife and it’s one of the few places where it's possible to see the Big Five during a morning's game drive. Many of the cheetahs are so tame they seek shelter from the hot sun under one's vehicle and several even climb onto the roof to get a better view of prospective prey. For the bird enthusiast, almost 500 species have been recorded: among these, 16 species of eagle, plus many hawks and falcons, 6 species of vultures, 8 species of storks, 4 of bustard (including the Kori bustard, the world's heaviest flying bird), and 9 species of sunbirds.

We will initiate the day with an early morning game drive in Maasai Mara while driving out of the National Reserve. After border formalities, drive to the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania. It will be a long day of driving but the game drives going in and out of the parks can be surprisingly incredible. Once there you will engage in game driving along the Mara River. If we are lucky, we will get to witness spectacular river crossing by the wildebeest and zebras where they have to out-smart the crocodiles, battle against the strong river currents as well as outrunning the numerous predators that track them. Our accommodation will be situated close to the migration and on some occasions, we will be able to see the herds right outside the lodge.

Today, we will transfer to central Serengeti for a fantastic day of game driving around the central area. The central part of Serengeti is perfect for game viewing all year round because of its abundance of wildlife due to the presence of food and water throughout the year. After a fantastic day full of wildlife, we will make our way to our lodge for a night of relaxation and unwinding in the evening.

Breakfast and spend this day at the game drives, picnic lunch in between the sessions. Start your day early to maximize game-viewing opportunities. Your guide will take you to the best locations for wildlife sightings. Spend time at the Hippo Pool, observing these massive creatures and their crocodile neighbors. You’ll also witness lions, wildebeest, zebras, and other animals navigating the diverse landscape. You will experience unforgettable views and a wide variety of animals, including elephants, giraffes, and if you’re lucky, leopards and cheetahs. Later in the evening return to the camp for relaxation. Dinner and overnight at kontiki serengeti camp

In the morning, transfer to Ngorongoro, the 8th natural wonder of the world. Stop for a picnic lunch, afternoon descent down to the crater floor for a day of wildlife viewing in one of the most incredible places on Earth. With walls 2,000 ft high and a crater floor that spreads for 102 sq. miles, the crater is a virtual Noah's Ark, inhabited by almost every species of wildlife indigenous to East Africa including the rare black rhino. In fact, the crater has the greatest concentration of wildlife on the planet. It contains a river, several swamps, a soda lake that, from the top, looks like steam, full of flamingoes, forest and open plains. On the way into the ngorongoro crater, option to stop at the famous Olduvai Gorge, where Dr Louis and Mary Leakey made their discovery of the first man that walked the earth. Drive up the steep road out of the crater and transfer to your accommodation for overnight.

Head to Tarangire National Park, famous for its massive herds of elephants and iconic baobab trees. During the dry season, animals flock to the Tarangire River, the park’s lifeline. Watch as elephants skillfully tap water from the baobabs and witness an array of wildlife gathering around the river. Later evening get out of the park and drive to Arusha for dinner and overnight.

Early morning start and drive to Amboseli National Park, check in at your accommodation and afternoon rest or game drive, as you prefer.Amboseli National Park is situated South of Nairobi, most of the park consisting of a dry, ancient lake bed and fragile grassland with patches of acacia woodland, while in the southern area there are a number of small rocky volcanic hills. Around the swamps Ol Okenya, Ol Tukai and Enkongo Narok, the vegetation is lush with yellow-barked acacias and phoenix palms.

Early rise for good views of Mount Kilimanjaro before clouds build up over the summit with packed lunch provided. Despite its changing habitat, Amboseli National Park is possibly the best wildlife area in the whole of Africa to experience elephants at close range. Left unharassed by poachers, elephants feeding and bathing in the swamps must form the highlights of any Safari.

Morning game drive in Amboseli. An optional visit to a Maasai village can be planned also. A visit reveals the singing and dancing that are part of their daily lives and sacred rituals. A glimpse into their homes and social structure is a poignant experience.Early afternoon drive to Nairobi arriving at about 5 pm and transfer to your hotel or the airport. Meals: Breakfast & lunch.

All arrangements including hotel, game drives, food arrangements, personalised s (Read More)ervices by İmara Destinations was excellent We started our trip from New Delhi to Nairobi via Mumbai by Indigo flight. Dennis was there to welcome us at the airport early in the morning. We started off to Samburu, had lunch on the way had a relaxing evening at the resort. We had a wonderful game drive next day at the samburu national reserve, saw a leopard, zebra, giraffe, ostrich, etc from close quarters. We went to ol Pajeto conservancy, fed blind rhino, saw chimpanzees and other animals including two horned rhinos, proceeded to Nakuru saw pelicans, flamingos etc there, Masai Mara we stayed for three nights and had two game drives. Could see lots of lions, cheetah with its prey as well as a pregnant cheetah, zebras, giraffes etc. we also saw ostriches and other animals and birds there. We then went to Naivasha had a boat ride with walk and see crocodiles and hippos and crescent island visit walked with zebras, impalas and wildebeest but couldn’t see giraffe there. Due to floods last year many parts of crescent island got submerged so could only see part of the island. Our last destination was Amboseli park with game drive there. Overall it was a highly satisfying and interesting experience. İmara Destinations did a very good job of taking us to the exact spots where animals would be seen uninterrupted. Well done İmara Destinations. Thanks to Dennis and Murray for it

Just went for 8 day safari with James and Wild Portraits Safaris...it was spot o (Read More)n perfect. Reasons 1.Clear communication and replies always comes very quickly on WhatsApp. 2. Very genuine with suggestions and doesn't do things as a job or formality. 3. James is very knowledgeable. 4. The enthusiasm and passion shown by James was just so infectious. 5. The planning of itinerary takes care of all the finer details. 6. They really take care of your focus and they don't try to sell anything you are not interested in. For example we skipped the village visit because we didn't see value in it. 7. Quite flexible and adjusts as things progress.
