As per the legend, Lord Shiva asked his two sons that the one who will take a faster round of universe will have the privilege of worshipping him first. However, intelligence of Lord Ganesha impressed his father which made lord Kartik angry. As a result he gave his flesh to his mother whiles his bones to his father. The bones can still be seen in the temple are worshipped by the devotees.
