Kofuku-ji Temple, Nara Overview
The Fujiwara family temple, a two minute walk from Kintetsu Nara station, so most visitors meet it first. Its treasure museum holds the Ashura, a three-faced, six-armed eighth century figure that is among the most famous sculptures in Japan. One thing to know before you plan a photograph: the five-storied pagoda is completely wrapped for restoration until March 2034, so the classic reflection in Sarusawa Pond is not available.
