Lampi, Mergui Archipelago Overview

Lampi is the only marine national park in Myanmar, located in Lanbi Island, Mergui Archipelago, in the Tanintharyi region. It is also a protected bird reserve area and a heritage site, which is home to over 200 species of birds. Lampi is one of the lesser-known destinations in Myanmar for tourists but is worth visiting if you love marine life and bird watching.

Lampi is one of the 800+ islands which are a part of the Archipelago, which is home to massive evergreen forests and coral reefs that spreads over 600 km. These remote islands also consist of the Moken indigenous tribes, unique to this region. Also called sea gipsies, there are over 8000 Moken tribes spread across five settlements. The organization provides food, water and energy sources to these people in the protected area. You can stay on boathouses, which are available for tourists if you want to stay overnight. You can book various tours, including hiking and watersports at the counter when you enter.
