Mawlyngbna, a village situated just a few picturesque kilometers south of Mawsynram, shares its hilltop with three others, offering mesmerizing views of the rolling Khasi hills blending into the plains of Bangladesh. This rain-blessed village, known for its warm and welcoming locals, has gained popularity among tourists for its diverse natural attractions.

Within Mawlyngbna, numerous natural springs provide clean, fresh water throughout the year, serving as both a vital resource and a refreshing spot for recreational activities. The Umkhakoi Lake, a serene waterbody  is popular spot for river canyoning in Mawlyngbna. Surrounding the village is a sprawling broadleaf forest teeming with diverse flora and fauna, including the endangered predaceous pitcher plant, exclusive to this region.

For nature enthusiasts, following a trail north through the jungle canopy leads to a vast plateau of rock and grass, offering endless vistas under the open sky. This area is renowned for its geological significance, with embedded fossils putting Mawlyngbna on the map for enthusiasts of earth sciences. Popular activities in Mawlyngbna include exploring the mysterious Mawmluh Cave, swimming in the natural rock pools of Wei Sawdong, and embarking on guided treks to nearby attractions like the Um Diengkain Valley and Thum Falls.

This initiative, spearheaded by enterprising youth from the village, aims to promote village and adventure tourism as an alternative livelihood for the local youth.
