Potamos Beach, Malia Overview

Potamos Beach is a popular beach but is also calm and peaceful. Situated east of the Malia port in Crete, it is named after the Potomac River, a small stream that flows at its eastern end. The 700 m long beach is picturesque, with warm sands and crystalline clear waters. Umbrellas, sunbeds, toilets, showers, and water sporting activities are available here.

A few rocky outcrops dot the Potamos Beach landscape and during autumn the beautiful sea lilies can be seen in the sand. There is also a lifeguard to watch over the safety of swimmers. Besides, one can order drinks or snacks on the beach and there are also many restaurants and shops around the beach area. Malia’s main beach is usually always crowded, and hence the Potamos Beach is a lovely retreat for visitors who are looking for some quietude.
