Fondly known as the 'Roof of Indochina', Fansipan, in Vietnam, is the largest mountain in the Indochina region (Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos. Standing at a height of over 3 Km (3147 ft) in the Hoang Lien Son mountain range, it is situated around 9 Km away from Sapa. This mountain attracts hiking and trekking enthusiasts. It takes anywhere from 3-5 days to reach the top via a trek of intermediate difficulty. These treks are organised by tour companies who organise overnight stays near the peak and at various spots during the climb.
A train can be taken to skip the walking stairs to the top. There is also a cable car which was initiated for those who wish to take a leisurely and scenic route to the top. On the way to the mountain top of Fansipan, there is a garden complex as well. The garden is home to intricate stone paths and bronze sculptures.
