Dalpat Sagar, Jagdalpur Overview

The biggest artificial lake of Chhattisgarh, Dalpat Sagar is a 400-year-old lake built primarily to harvest rainwater, now also being used mainly for fishing and tourism. There is an artificial island built in the middle of the lake for tourists to enjoy picnics; it has a light tower, a musical fountain and even a temple surrounded by the pristine nature. The government has also started boating facilities for tourists so that one can soak in the gorgeous sunsets. Spread over an area of 350 hectares, this lake was built by Raja Dalpat Deo Kakatiya so that the collected rainwater could be used for different purposes like irrigation, washing and drinking. The surroundings of the lake have some rare and beautiful flora and fauna too. Dalpat Sagar can be visited at any time of the year. It's a perfect picnic spot if you're in Jagdalpur.

Dalpat lake is situated in Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh is an artificial lake built by Raja Dalpat Deo Kakatiya, 400 years ago. It spreads over 350 hectares of land and hence is the largest artificial lake in the state of Chhattisgarh. The lake undergoes maintenance by the Government of Chhattisgarh. There is an island constructed in the centre of the lake which is accessible through boats. Best Time to Visit Dalpat Sagar

The best time to visit the lake is during the pre-winter season that is during the months of August to November. The water level is appropriate for significant tourist activities. The climate is warm and pleasant; temperature ranges from 22 to 30 degrees Celsius. Majority of people visit the lake during this time of the year. During the Post-winter and summer period, a small part of the lake gets dry whereas in monsoon heavy rains make visiting the lake or boating impossible.

The lake is located just 15 minutes away from the Jagdalpur Railway Station and is easily accessible from there.
