"Home to the Lhalung Monastery"

Lhalung, Himachal Pradesh Overview

The village of Lhalung is one of the most notable tourist spots in the Lingti Valley, thanks to its ancient monasteries. Thanks to its scenic surroundings and pleasant weather between June and September, it is frequented by hikers and bikers on road trips from Shimla and Manali.

It is home to the Lhalung Monastery, which dates back to the 10th century. Founded by Rinchen Zangpo, the famous Tibetan Buddhist translator. Despite the harsh climate of the area, the monastery has stood the test of time. The locals revere the monastery, with a belief that it was built of willow trees by angels that protect the village.

Tourists can also enjoy the peace and quiet of the region, allowing one to detach from the hustle and bustle of urban life. They are welcome to stay with one of the 45 families residing in the region, with homestays providing food and a great way to learn about the local lifestyle. Adventure seekers can also take small hikes into the nearby mountains surrounding the valley.
