Pitti Palace, Florence Overview

Palazzo Pitti is a grand Renaissance palace in Florence, located on the southern side of the River Arno, near the Ponte Vecchio. It houses several museums, including the Palatine Gallery, Gallery of Modern Art, Museum of Costume and Fashion, and Treasury of the Grand Dukes. Behind the palace, the Boboli Gardens offer a lush retreat filled with sculptures, fountains, and manicured landscapes. Once the residence of powerful families like the Medici, it is now one of the largest museum complexes in Florence.

In 1457, the Pitti Family was the first to make this enormous palazzo. Filippo Brunelleschi designed this elegant architectural structure. Later, this was handed over to the Medici Family.  Visit this huge structure, and you will be awestruck by the preservation of the historical art and culture. Besides the Boboli Garden design, this garden was commissioned by Niccolo Pericoli in 1549. The Amphitheater with the Roman basin, along with the Egyptian obelisk, Tacca, and the Grand Duke's Casino, are some of the noteworthy things to see here.
