Established in 1989 as a tourist spot by the Forest Department, the picturesque picnic spot is adorned with lush foliage of thick bamboo groves, teak trees and sandalwood, with lovely riverside cottages.
It would be in no way an overstatement to say that Nisargadhama is indeed a paradise on Earth for all nature lovers. In fact, Nisargadhama is an ideal place for tourists and visitors who wish to spend a few moments in peace in the lap of nature with their loved ones. The scenic beauty of Nisargadhama makes it one of the most beautiful places in Coorg and also a famous picnic spot, not just for the people of Coorg, but also for tourists and nature enthusiasts from all across the nation.
The island needs to be accessed through a hanging rope bridge. A myriad of animals, including deer, rabbits and peacocks dwell here in the pristine surroundings. Nisargadhama also houses a children's playground as well as an orchidarium. An ecological park, which is equally enjoyed by young and old people alike, can also be found here. In addition, the place also has a small snack house and a deer park. Tourists are even allowed to get into the water at a few shallow and safe points along the river. Elephant rides and boating are some of the other popular attractions here. Nisargadhama also has a forest department-run guest house and treetop bamboo cottages.
