Tamranga Lake, Bongaigaon Overview

Known locally as Tamranga Bil or Tamranga Beel, Tamranga Lake is one-half of the largest freshwater lakes in Assam. Located at around a half-hour drive from Bongaigaon, the lake is well known among locals who catch fish on a daily basis. The lake is serene throughout the year, flanked by hills on one side and paddy fields and rubber plantations. It serves as a great picnic sport during the winter season.

Tourists or non-locals who visit can pay the local fishermen or boatman a small fee to enjoy a leisurely boat ride on the lake. For those who feel a little more adventurous, the fishermen take them out on a boat ride at night, to watch them fish and watch the schools of fish come up to the surface.
