Guptar Ghat, Ayodhya Overview

Situated on the banks of the Sarayu River, also known as Ghaggar, Guptar Ghat is a revered site near Ayodhya, in Faizabad. This historical ghat is believed to be the place where Lord Rama meditated and undertook 'Jal Samadhi' in the river, after which he attained 'Baikuntha' and ascended to heaven as an avatar of Lord Vishnu. The ghat features a flight of steps leading to the holy river and was once adjacent to the colonial Company Gardens, now known as Gupta Ghat Van.

Guptar Ghat is home to several prominent temples, including the Sita-Ram Temple, the Chakrahari Shrine, and the Narsingh Temple, which attract numerous devotees. The ghat was revamped in the 1800s and has been continually improved by the Uttar Pradesh Government, now offering modern amenities for visitors. The serene ambiance of Guptar Ghat, coupled with its historical and spiritual significance, makes it a must-visit destination for those exploring Ayodhya's rich cultural heritage.
