Christmas Stay in Village Hotel on the Wirral

Bar , restaurant good. Leisure, swimming pool etc excellent. Parking good. Staff friendly & helpful. Food in restaurant good range. I like the hotel, it's our second stay, but some areas need improvement, see below.

No fridge in room. So difficult for a diabetic with medicine. No safe for valuables. Starbucks no hot food, oven broken for duration of our visit. When Starbucks closed (xmas day), I couldn't get a coffee unless you had the breakfast in the restaurant. On NY Eve, there was no celebration for families, so we stayed in a different hotel which catered for families. Otherwise, I would have stayed in the Village Hotel. Some of the food in restaurants is expensive versus other establishments, e.g., Steak 30 & quality okay but not top notch.

Avoid if you want a nice welcoming, comfortable stay.

The staff who dealt with the breakfast were the only nice staff we came across, them and the man who checked if you were ok when checking in.

The room was very basic and tired looking. There wasnt a phone in the room which I found weird. Also when we checked out, we were travelling back home and 1hr and 40 in to heading home we realised we left a bag in the restaurant and tried to call 26 times to ask if it was there, not one person answered the call phone. I ended up emailing reservations and they got back to me to confirm the bag was there eventually. The staff at night time in the bar area came across rude, we asked for water, and they had run out of bottled water, we then asked for tap and we didnt get it, we asked someone different and eventually they got the jist of it.

Room wasnt cleaned after prior occupants. Very noisy upstairs. No towels when visiting the swimming pool.

Passable

It did it purpose but would not stay again

The use of the pool for the children and plenty of parking also the Starbucks located within the reception

It is very tried, needs a fresh paint and new carpets. Lots of makes on the walls. Stains on the carpets, chipped furniture and missing buttons from the headboard, broken blind, holes in towels not making the rooms inviting. Also not very clean, glass found on the bathroom floor and lots of dust on surfaces.
