Pentahotel Reading is conveniently located with a quiet bar area and clean, decent-sized rooms with good heating/AC units. The lobby offers free games and live entertainment, and the breakfast is hig (Read More)hly praised. The modern rooms can be noisy due to the busy road, and some guests found them a bit chilly at night. The hotel is great for groups, with plenty of entertainment options, but the conference room's WiFi may be unreliable. Staff should improve catering utensil placement for easier service.

If it wasn't for the location,...

The location is fantastic.

Room 505 was a bit tatty, to be honest, with ripped wallpaper behind the bed head. Even though I booked for 2 people, they only provided one bottle of water, tea stained cups for tea, and insufficient toilet paper! ( the toilet paper thing is an issue. A 1/4 roll and a full roll)! The windows don't open, and the duvets are VERY thin. This means that if you turn the thermostat up to make up for the cold room and unsuitable duvet, you will risk suffocation from lack of breathable oxygen! To make up for this, I brought my own fleece blanket to place under the thin duvet and turned down the heating.

Great hotel, good value, excellent bar facilities with free games like pinball and arcades

They were able to let us check in 3 hours early at no extra cost. Very friendly staff. The bar was fantastic, well decorated with free games like pinball and arcades etc. The room was quiet and comfortable.

The lift ever turned up if you called it from ground floor. Eventually asked staff at night who said the button was jammed and we had to go up 1 flight of stairs to call it to 1st floor. We had people in party with mobility issues. They stated they were waiting for a fix, but there was no sign on the lift so we'd been stood around for ages waiting for it.

Pleasant Stay

Reception area & bar warm and welcoming, pleasant staff & close to town. Bed was very comfortable, room & bathroom clean...bathrobes came in handy to stay warm. Breakfast was excellent lots of choices, cereals, bread, cossaints, juices, yoghurts, etc & hot food, good quality & cooked to order Good discount provided at nearby multi-storey car park which was secure.

Poss a personal preference but felt duvets were too thin/ lightweight for the time of year...air con unit took an age to make any in roads & warm up room & was quite noisy. The TV channel setup was interesting ....it listed channels in alphabetical rather than numerical order & programmes came on 1 hr ahead of guide time Would have been handy to have plug socket near the kettle station ... All minor things impacted overall comfort.
