Exceptional

Walking distance to shops and harbour. Quiet location. Staff allowed me to check in early as I had just arrived on an overnight flight from Singapore. This was most welcome.

The location

Room wasn't clean from last occupant with rubbish and dirty linen everywhere we arrived well after check in time as well. We then spent almost an hour waiting in the waiting area as for it to be cleaned causing us to almost be late for our activities that afternoon.

We booked months in advance for three nights and as a family of 8 requested our rooms be next to each other. We arrived and rooms were on the same floor but not next to each other. One room was not clean there was gunk on the curtain looked like dried up mayo or snot, who knows. I raised with reception who told me house keeping will not be here until tomorrow. I asked them to sort it immediately because I didn't want to look at it all night, disgusting. They cleaned it off immediatley. We then moved to the kitchen and the cupboard door to the fridge had liquid spilled down the front and back of the door. The bathroom door also had dirt marks on it and the knives and forks had dried up food stuck to them. They replaced the knives and forks and said housekeeping would clean the cupboards and doors the next day. The next day around lunchtime we were told there were two rooms next to each other on the eighth floor. So it took us a good hour to pack all our things and move to the other floor it was a hassle and inconvenience and we were in the middle of hair and make up for a special occasion we had later on that night. We also told reception the spa pool was cold. They said maintenence would look at it the following day, we were checking out and to top it all off not long after we told reception the spa pool was cold another guest asked the same staff member if they knew that the spa pool was cold and they said no, blatant lie. Also we used the washer and dryer in the room and our clothes came out smelling worse then what they did when we put them in, obviously the washer has not been serviced. We chose this place based on the facilities it had available and the location, disappointed the facilities were not able to be used, the standard of the rooms cleanliness and the staff customer service. I would not return to this place at all and would not recommend it.

Superb

Great hotel in good location.

Staff were welcoming and helped whenever required. Lovely rooms in good location and within walking distance to town but also has bus stop outside the door if required.

Only issue is the fact that they will not accept cash and theres a 2.5 % charge on your card when you use it. This was the only hotel in our five week stay in NZ that made card use compulsory.
