Location was great, the view of the castle when you come outside the door is beautiful. The hostel was very clean, nice staff, comfortable beds. More like a hotel I thought, than a hostel. Lots of restaurants and bars around the area also.The price for a double room was very good and worth it. Kitchens, wash room, bar and chill out area were clean and spacious. I would definitely recommend the kick ass to other travellers

Great location!

Location is perfect! Affordable but with necessary equipment. Plenty of stuff to do around and in the building. Good storage for when you checkout. Felt safe with my stuff in my own locker (bring your own lock).

The cleanliness of the breakfast, dishes were always dirty.

Great Value of money

I love how organized it is. Everything is well placed and accessible. The location with this price is a huge deal. I have seen lots of people from different ages stayed at this hostel. Normally, I saw only young people but if elders stayed, it must seem to be valuable.

There should be an elevator in case someone got a luggage.

Close to the royal mile, main tourist attractions, and lots of pubs.

Staff were rude, rooms smelt terrible and the windows barely opened so couldnt air it out. Bathrooms on level 3 were absolutely disgusting the whole 4 days I was there, half the toilets out of order, urine on the floor, no toilet paper. Prices were absurd for the quality of the property. Would not stay again.

Too noisy and expensive for the service provided

The location is great ! Beds and sheets are quite confortable

The room was soooooo noisy due to the simple glaze window and being just above the street. We could hear the people and the cars as if they were on the room. Plus, there was the crossing beep as well. Shutting the window didnt make a single difference. And Grassmarket is a busy location so there is always noise. The bedrooms should all be separated from the corridor with a door. Some are but ours wasnt. The corridor light should turn off at night because each time the bedroom doors open, everyone gets waken up. And that bedroom door slams Showers are cold. Hair dryer only works 10 seconds We didnt get towels the first night as they were not ready. Breakfast is very poor for 4,5. We paid 75/night/person to sleep in a 8 bed-bedroom. Its really too expensive.

Overall it was enjoyable if you wake up early

Central location. Close to pubs and station.

The shower rooms have no privacy at all. Atleast the all male ones. The mixed shower rooms are slightly better with some hooks to hang our dry clothes
