Not much at all. We stayed overnight at this property due to the good reviews and the location to Cairns Private as I was booked in for an operation at 7am the next day. Due to the road conditions caused from Cyclone Jasper the two closest ranges to our home were closed so we this necessitated driving down the night beforehand. I even rang ahead to say wed be late and why - it ended up being a 3.5 hour trip (normally takes us 45 minutes). We were so disappointed with our stay. Where do I start? The bed was one of the most uncomfortable beds weve ever slept in (I travel a lot for work). We could feel the springs, partner disturbance was high when we moved and we felt like we were sleeping on an ironing board. A thin cloth was provided as a useless blanket which we had to use-as A/C was required so I was uncomfortably cold (humidity necessitates use of A/C). A light on the balcony shone through into the room all night making it extremely difficult for us to sleep (I forgot my sleeping mask). The bathroom was literally the size of a walk-in wardrobe. The toilet flush system didnt work well and we couldnt get WIfI to connect. What we couldnt understand was the resort appeared to be practically empty due to the cyclone yet we were put in an awful room the size of a broom closet down the back of the resort. Given the circumstances how difficult would it have been to upgrade us to a nicer room to ensure our stay was pleasant given we are locals and I had explained the purpose of my stay in my phone call? The room appeared to be a converted storage room (322) as it did not had a wooden door entrance like the others. We had a very long drive from home through heavy rain and checked in late having to take an alternative route to get to Cairns from our home on the Tablelands. As a local I was extremely disappointed by the standard of this resort room - how hard wouldve it have been to upgrade our room given the weather event?
